Police Officer Shot In Weatherford

Weatherford, TX – A Weatherford police officer and a suspect were both shot during a traffic stop, late Thursday night.

Police officials confirmed that the traffic stop took place in the parking lot of Tequila Bar and Grill. The officer and the suspect struggled before shots were heard in the parking lot.

The restaurant was open for business and there were many customers inside at the time of the shooting. No injuries were reported inside.

The officer has been identified as Officer Chris Bumpas. Our sources tell us that he was shot below his vest. He was rushed to the hospital and into emergency surgery. His condition has not been released since he entered surgery.

The unidentified suspect was also rushed to the hospital and his condition is unknown as well.

Bumpas is a Navy veteran and was recently named the police department’s rookie of the year.

Our thoughts are with the officer, his family, and his department, hoping for a full recovery.

This is a developing story and stay tuned to Blue Lives Matters for updates.
