Video: Knife Attack On Police – Why Police Don’t Play With Knife Wielding Suspects
WARNING: VERY GRAPHIC. Video shows a knife attack on police and demonstrates exactly how deadly one person with a knife can be.
Honduras – Honduras Police surround a very agitated man with a knife. Police try to talk the man down as they surround him, but it looks like they are only making him angrier. As police get closer and closer to the obviously upset man with a knife, the assailant makes his move:
He strikes the first officer with the knife in the throat, then suddenly jumps on another officer and starts brutally stabbing him. From there he chases a third and fourth officer down, stabbing them as well.
In total, 4 officers were stabbed in the brutal attack. The first officer who was stabbed died from his wounds.
As our friends over at Badge Cams state in the video, It took 16 seconds for the first officer to fire and another 40 seconds for the suspect to finally be put down. Believe it or not, when someone is shot, they don’t always fly backwards and instantly die like in movies. Adrenaline is a hell of a thing that can keep people going for a long time after they are injured.
A knife wielding suspect can be just as deadly as a suspect armed with a gun. Take for instance, in July of this year, a Japanese man went on a rampage with only a knife in a mental health facility killing 19 people and wounding 26.
Some people argue that police should be taught “disarming techniques” or that police should use more less than lethal methods. I personally don’t want to get close to someone with a knife. As you can see in the video, the first officer stabbed didn’t even have time to react before he was killed. Videos like this go to show why police don’t take any chances with a knife wielding suspect.
