Video Of New York State Trooper Dragged On Traffic Stop
Hempstead, Long Island – Footage of a bloodied trooper arresting the suspect who dragged him is now available.
The unidentified trooper had stopped a car on Wednesday afternoon at westbound Southern State Parkway in Hempstead. The trooper tried to arrest the driver, and then the driver took off with the trooper hanging from the window.
With the trooper still relentlessly hanging on, the driver crashed into the center median. The video starts with the trooper climbing through the car, going after the driver. The trooper didn’t let a face-full of blood stop him from taking down his assailant. Finally, two citizens rushed to the trooper’s aid.
ABC7 obtained the video, which you can see here:
“He floored this car, you know the cruiser was right behind the suspect’s car, and he literally just floored it with the cop hanging out, you literally see the cop’s legs hanging out outside the vehicle,” a witness told ABC7.
The suspect is being charged with aggravated assault upon a police officer, second degree assault, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration.
The trooper was taken to the hospital for head injuries.
Great job to this trooper staying in the fight. We wish him a speedy recovery.
