Barrow County, Georgia – Jessica Fox ran over a police officer, after getting tased, while the officer tried to arrest her for a felony warrant on Saturday. The incident was captured on the officer’s dash camera.

Statham Police Officer Marc Lofton had stopped Jessica Fox for speeding. Once officer Lofton discovered that Fox had a felony warrant, he attempted to place her under arrest. That’s when the video starts:

Fox refused to get out of the vehicle and resisted Officer Lofton’s attempts to use control holds to pull her out of the vehicle. Officer Lofton finally tased her, but he was too close for the Taser to be effective. Jessica Fox then started driving away, dragging the Officer Lofton with her. The officer finally fell out of the side of the vehicle, and his legs were run over by the vehicle’s rear tires.

Officer Lofton was hospitalized for a torn Achilles tendon and a concussion.

Later, Officer Marc Lofton told Channel 2, “I wasn’t sure she ran over this leg. I knew for sure she ran over this leg, because I felt it and I heard thump, thump, oh, that’s my leg.”

“I know God was with me and that’s how it was supposed to happen, because I probably should’ve been dead and I wasn’t. It wasn’t my time. It wasn’t her time. Like I say, I owe everything to (God),” Lofton said.

Jessica Fox successfully escaped capture until Tuesday, when she was apprehended. Fox is being charged with assaulting a police officer, in addition to her outstanding warrant.

This situation could have been much worse with Officer Lofton being more seriously injured or killed. All it took was one small “unarmed” woman to decide that she wasn’t going to jail, and Officer Lofton’s two children could have lost their father.
