Video Shows Gunfire Breaking Out At Candlelight Vigil For Shooting Victim
Memphis, TN – News crews were live on scene of a candlelight vigil for a shooting victim when gunshots erupted around them. They recorded the moment that three more people were shot (video below.)
FOX13 was live, capturing footage of the candlelight vigil Monday evening. The vigil was being held in remembrance of Myneisha Johnson, who was murdered in a shooting last year in Memphis.
Myneisha Johnson, 18, was shot just before she was set to graduate from high school with honors. She had a college scholarship and it appeared that she was going to be an example to others, despite having to attend school while dealing with teen pregnancy.
“She would look at her neighborhood and her community and say ‘don’t waste your energy and time with nonsense. You can live,’” Reverend Jason Black of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church said of Johnson.
While the news crew was recording at the vigil, gunfire suddenly erupted and you could hear bullets whizzing by the camera crew as people scrambled for cover.
A total of three people were shot. One of the victims is listed in critical condition while the other two are in non-critical condition.
No suspects have been identified or located at this time.
