Two San Antonio Officers Shot

San Antonio, Texas – Two San Antonio police officers have been shot and are in “very critical” condition after they came under fire immediately after exiting their vehicle Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened at around 3:15 PM near Evergreen and Howard, according to mySanAntonio. The officers saw two suspects on the street and stopped their car to talk to them. Immediately after exiting their vehicle, both officers were shot.

The initial reason for the officers stopping has not been released at this time.

One officer was shot in the chest and another was shot in the face. The officer who was shot in the chest pulled the downed officer out of the line of fire.

In the ensuing gunfight, one of the suspects was shot dead and the other was taken into custody alive after a short foot pursuit. That suspect is currently in the custody of homicide detectives.

Chief William McManus said that both officers are being treated at a nearby hospital in “very critical” condition.

“It’s not a good feeling to know two officers were shot during active patrol,” Chief McManus told reporters.

Our thoughts and prayers are with these critically injured officers and their families. Please say a prayer for these heroes; it doesn’t sound good.
