Suspects Open Fire On Chicago Officer, Try To Steal His Car

An Off-Duty Chicago Officer Was Shot At

Chicago –   Two suspects, Thomas Colquitt, and an unidentified 17-year-old juvenile, have been charged after firing shots at an off-duty Chicago Police Officer and attempting to steal his vehicle.

According to police sources, the incident occurred on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at about 4:40 PM in the West Chesterfield neighborhood on the city’s South Side.  The two suspects approached the off-duty Police Officer in the 100 block of East 89th Street.  They fired shots at the off-duty officer, and then tried to steal his vehicle before fleeing east on 89th Street.

The two suspects have since been taken into custody.  One suspect, Thomas Colquitt, age 20, has been charged with one felony count of Attempted Robbery With A Firearm.  The second suspect, a 17-year-old male juvenile, has been charged with one felony count of Attempted Robbery With A Firearm and one count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm at a Police Officer. Thomas was ordered held at the Cook County Jail on bond of $300,000, and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

The Chicago Police Officer was not injured.  This incident is another example of the violence occurring throughout the city of Chicago.
