California Teacher David Roberts Fired For Black Lives Matter Support

California high school teacher, David Roberts, was fired recently for his public show of support for the anti-police political organization, Black Lives Matter, while teaching students at Clovis West High.

According to The Fresno Bee, the 75-year-old substitute teacher wore a pin on his shirt that read, “Black Lives Matter”; an obvious reference to, and in support of the group which spreads hatred towards law enforcement. The teacher’s conduct was brought to the attention of the school administration who did not hesitate in taking action.

Roberts, who is white, was approached Deputy Principle Tony LeFore after receiving word that students were offended by his show of support for Black Lives Matter, and he also noted that Roberts was not following the study plan of the day.  In a subsequent incident report dated November 8th, Mr. LeFore said that he “explained that we remain politically neutral on campus, and he took off the political button.” The school’s policies clearly reflect their stance on political and controversial issues.

But to the credit of Clovis West High, the matter didn’t end there. The following day, Roberts was notified that he was no longer allowed to work at the school. Roberts comments to the Fresno Bee prove that he just didn’t get it:

“They said it was a violation of their policy of being neutral regarding political issues, but I don’t consider it a political statement. It is a moral statement,” Roberts said. “I was very surprised because I didn’t think it was a violation of anything.”

“A pin that reads ‘Black Lives Matter’ is not a political button. It is a peaceful request to end this violence. It is not a protest. It is not intended to be anti-police and does not imply that black lives matter more than other lives. It simply says they matter, too,” Roberts said.

Apparently Roberts, a seasoned teacher, hasn’t spent much time studying the propaganda of the group in which he has so proudly shown support, even at the risk of his career. The truth is, Black Lives Matter is a well-funded group of political organizations, as has been widely reported. Their message is simple: police are the enemy because black people are being gunned down daily by those police, although facts and statistics prove that nothing is further from the truth.

Robert’s confusion on the matter is understandable for somebody who doesn’t actually look into the group, and makes an assumption absed on their name that Black Lives Matter is a civil rights organization. Most people have their own personal beliefs about what Black Lives Matter means to them. They think that their personal definition for Black Lives Matter is what the organized BLM groups stand for; this is not the case.

Black Lives Matter is made up of political organizations with political goals that most people would disagree with, including disrupting the “nuclear family” structure (see Black Villages), taxpayer-funded reparations for black people (see Reparations), and the elimination of charter schools (see Invest-Divest.) If you are unfamiliar with the Movement 4 Black Lives website we linked to, that’s the coalition of over 50 Black Lives Matter organizations which is receiving $100 million in donations to push their political goals.

Clovis West High takes a no-nonsense approach to controversial matters such as these. As a part of their policy, the school encourages students and teachers to,  “explore fully and fairly all sides of an issue, weigh carefully the values and factors involved, and develop techniques for formulating and evaluating positions.”

David Roberts, the factually-oblivious Black Lives Matter supporter, and former Clovis West High teacher, learned a hard lesson from a common sense school policy in a no-nonsense school- a policy that prevents irresponsible acts of political bias to influence the highly impressionable mind of a child. Other schools whose teachers and staff have naively fallen for the Black Lives Matter propaganda should learn the same lesson.
