West Haven, Connecticut – West Haven Police Department is investigating after over 600 mature marijuana plants were located at a daycare.

A city inspector went to 159 Norfolk Street in West Haven to do a routine daycare inspection. When the inspector arrived, they found a newly-erected wooden fence around the back yard. The inspector is required to inspect the entire property, but the owners denied him access. The inspector was concerned about being denied access, and called the Police Department who responded to investigate. Once officers arrived, they used their master powers of observation to detect the giant forest of marijuana.

Officers from the West Haven Police Department’s Street Crime Unit were able to obtain search warrants for the property. The plants that the officers recovered were between six to ten feet tall, and were surrounded by a newly erected wooden fence.

Rosalee Miller has had a permit to operate a daycare out of the house since 1995, and her license was set to expire in June 2018. She was licensed to care for up to six children at a time. The last time a full inspection of her house had been done was in July 2015.

The housing inspectors shut down the building and revoked the daycare license.
