Officer Down: Texas Officer Killed in Crash (Update)

A Pearland, TX officer was killed on duty when his vehicle was involved in a collision with another vehicle. Very few details are available at this time.
ABC13 reports:
Endy Ekpanya, 30, was responding to a non-emergency call, lights and sirens were not on which is standard at 3:15am.
A silver sedan and the police cruiser crashed near the intersection of Broadway and Countryclub.
The driver side of the officer’s car was crushed.
That officer had to be extracted from his car and was unresponsive .
He was taken by helicopter to the hospital where he died.
The female driver of the sedan also had to extracted.
She was taken to the hospital too. Her condition right now is unknown.
There were no witnesses to the crash.
DPS is now investigating this crash to see what exactly happened.
They will be reviewing the officers dashcam video to see if there are any clues there.

UPDATE 06/12/2016: The cause of the crash appears to be that the other driver crossed over the center line and struck Officer Ekpanya’s vehicle head-on.The other driver does not appear to be seriously injured and it is unknown at this time if she was impaired.
