Oceanside Motorcycle Officer Intentionally Rammed In Targeted Attack
Attempted Murder Of Oceanside Police Officer
Oceanside, CA – An Oceanside motorcycle officer was intentionally rammed by a vehicle Monday morning.
The incident happened Monday morning at around 10:40 AM when the unidentified officer stopped an Acura for a minor traffic infraction on Oceanside Boulevard near Foussat Rd, according to Lyndsay Winkley with The San Diego Union-Tribune.
While the officer was on the traffic stop, a driver in a Dodge Dart quickly accelerated, ramming him into the side of the Acura. Witnesses said that the ramming was intentional.
The Dodge Dart then took off, fleeing south on Foussat Rd. The car stopped on Industry St by El Camino Real and the driver and passenger fled from the vehicle. Officers were able to arrest one of the suspects.
The second suspect remains at large. He was described as a Hispanic male, last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts, and flip-flops.
Images of the suspect vehicle show the windshield smashed in.
Police spokesman Tom Bussey said that both suspects face attempted murder charges.
The officer’s condition has not officially been released, but he was conscious at the time he was airlifted to the hospital.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured officer and his family. Local law enforcement will no doubt work tirelessly to catch the other suspect involved.
