Mashantucket Tribal Police Shoot Suspect – Falls Four Floors To His Death

Connecticut – Mashantucket Tribal Police shot an armed fugitive this morning at Foxwood Resort and Casino, causing the man to fall four stories from a parking garage to his death.

The events transpired this morning at 11:30am, when the Mashantucket Tribal Police were attempting to apprehend a wanted man on the casino grounds.  Once cornered, the fugitive pulled out a gun and refused to drop his weapon.  With the man backed against the edge of the parking garages 4th floor, the volatile situation escalated at which point the tribal police were forced to shoot the subject.  He then fell from the parking garage, down four floors.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Connecticut State Police were conducting an investigation this afternoon into the incident, but early indications released to news media indicate that the use of deadly force was clearly justified in this situation.

During the chaotic scene, casino goers were put on lock down inside the building as a precautionary measure.

Casino officials released a statement via social media, “this morning, there was an isolated incident on property in the Fox Tower Garage that was quickly contained by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Police; an investigation remains open with the State Police”.  They furthered their claim by stating that there was no current threat to anyone at the casino.

This incident echoes another recent officer involved shooting in an Atlantic City, NJ casino in which a police officer was critically wounded earlier this month.

As you may have read in our earlier coverage, Atlantic City Police Officer Josh Vadell was critically shot when he and another officer interrupted a robbery in a casino parking garage.  The shooters were later apprehended following a large scale manhunt.  Vadell’s condition was initially very critical, but the warrior made fought through his injuries, making huge improvements.  He is now recovering in a long term rehab facility.
