BREAKING: Florida Cop Killer Markeith Loyd Captured And In Police Custody

Orlando, FL – Just after 7 P.M. EST, Orlando Police took to twitter to proclaim, “We’ve got him! Markeith Loyd in Orlando Police Department custody, details to come.” The nine-day manhunt that has stretched across the boundaries of Florida is over.

There have been unconfirmed reports that the cop killer crawled out of a house wearing body armor and was in possession of multiple firearms, and one with a 100 round drum magazine. We will update more about that as information becomes available.

The announcement came just hours after Orlando Police Chief John Mina said that Loyd had been added to the U.S. Marshal’s most-wanted fugitive list. The capture also comes on the heels of the announcement that the reward had been increased to $125,000.

Today, January 17, 2017 at 7:03 The Orlando Police Department posted a tweet on their official Twitter account that read, “We’ve got him! Markeith Loyd in OPD I Custody. Details to come. Media: stand by for details on press conference,” along with a reward photo of Markeith Loyd with the word “captured” written across it in bold read letters.

After the arrest News 6 WKMG Orlando posted a video of the cop killer being escorted into a building by multiple police officers. That footage is available in the Facebook post below:

In a press conference today, Orlando Police Chief John Mina stated the US Marshals Service had added Markeith Loyd to it’s 15-Most-Wanted fugitives list. Chief Mina followed that saying, “This is a man who gunned down a pregnant woman and a police officer who was doing her job to protect our community, I think every law enforcement officer in Central Florida is actively looking for him.”

On January 14, 2017 FOP Lodge 25 Orlando posted a tweet that said, “On 01/14/2017, MSgt. Debra Clayton will be laid to rest. Debra’s handcuffs to be used one more time to bring evil to justice.

Loyd has been the center of an intense search since the January 9th slaying of Orlando Police Sergeant, Debra Clayton. At that time, he was already wanted for the murder of his pregnant girlfriend. An Orange County deputy sheriff was also killed during the search for Loyd when he was involved in a traffic crash.

The Orlando Police Department has been assisted by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, The FBI, and the U.S. Marshals during the intense 9 day operation.

Although little details have been released about the capture, the OPD twitter account stated that a press release would be forthcoming soon.
