Anthony Frazier Killed

Charlotte, North Carolina- Anthony Frazier, the son of a Kannapolis police officer, was shot in the head Monday night. He has since died from his injuries while in Carolinas Medical Center.

Anthony Frazier, 14, was shot in the head Monday night while riding in a vehicle at the 2200 block of Finchely Drive. Anthony Frazier was then driven to a gas station located near Sugar Creek Road at the 900 block of Eastway Drive. Police were called to the scene and had the gas station marked off with crime scene tape while completing the investigation.

Police said that Anthony Frazier was the passenger in a vehicle that was being driven by his aunt Monday night around 10:20 PM. As they were pulling into their driveway police said they observed two males hiding in the bushes. News sources reported that the two males seen hiding in the bushes began running away when one turned and began firing into the car Anthony Frazier was riding in. Police advised that Anthony Frazier’s aunt then drove to a nearby 7-Eleven where she called police for help.

Police have not stated whether Anthony Frazier was the target of the shooting, and no arrests have been made. Police did provide a description of the suspects. The suspects are describe as being two black males in their teens, or early 20’s. One was wearing a gray hoodie and had a thin build, while the other was wearing a dark-colored hoodie and also had a thin build. Investigators also advised that the suspects hang out around the Eastway drive and Shamrock Drive corridors.

Kannapolis Poice Department Woody Chavis released the following statement when news of Anthony Frazier’s death was released:

“The Kannapolis Police Department is heartbroken over the loss of one of our family members, especially as Anthony was just beginning his teenage years.

Every member, of our extended family, plays an important role in our everyday lives and is critical to ensuring we are successful in carrying out our professional duties. Our families are the backbone of our department and without them we could not survive.

We are stunned that once again a senseless tragedy has impacted the lives of our children and our officers.

May God place his protective and loving arms around Officer Daniel Frazier’s family during this time of sorrow. A special thank you to the public for all the prayers, moral support, and acts of grace which you have shown us.”

Our hearts are heavy over the loss of Anthony Frazier, and we are praying for our blue brother as he and his entire family are dealing wit this terrible tragedy.
