Jackson, Mississippi – Fifty-five year old Charles Lung was naked behind the wheel and trying to lure kids into his car. When police arrived, he tried to kill them, prompting a potentially lethal response.
On Sunday afternoon, around 3:36 PM Jackson Police responded to a call in the area of Valley Street and Utica Avenue, in South Jackson. Callers reported being concerned by a naked man driving a white Toyota who was reported to be attempting to lure children into his vehicle.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a vehicle that mateched the description, with a nude man inside. The Jackson police officers began to approach the vehicle when Lung put his car in reverse and attempted to run an officer over at a high rate of speed. An officer then discharged his firearm multiple times, striking Lung. There were no other occupants in the car at the time of the shooting.
Jackson Police Spokesman, Commander Tyree Jones, said the officer will remain on administrative leave until the investigation is complete.
Charles Lung was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment. His charges will be sent to the Hinds County Grand Jury for review.
