Eight Injured, One Killed in Gender Reveal Party Shooting
Cincinnati, Ohio – Two gunmen opened fire and killed one woman and injured eight others, including an expectant mother at a house party where the gender of the unborn baby was to be revealed, according to CNN.
The expectant mother told local media that she was shot in the leg and lost her baby, CBS News reported.
Autumn Garrett, 22, was killed and pronounced dead at the scene, according to CNN. The other victims had non-life threatening injuries. The children injured were age 8, 6 and 2.
The get together was for a “gender reveal party,” according to numerous sources. A gender reveal party has become a popular event where friends and family get together and the expectant parents announce the gender of the unborn baby.
The expectant mother was identified as Cheyanne Willis and told Fox 19 that she was shot in the leg, treated and released, but lost her baby.
The suspects are still on the loose.
“There were handguns involved, we don’t know if anyone was targeted at this time, obviously with nine people shot, we have to gather how many people were in the room at the time and figure that out during our witness statements,” Colerain Township Police Chief Mark Denney told Fox 19 Now.
The two gunmen were wearing all black and busted in through the front door and opened fire. The victims were watching TV together at the time of the shooting and had no warning, according to police.
Fox 19 Now reported that a witness called 911 and told the dispatcher she was sitting in a car when she saw two men in hoods enter the home, open fire and run off.
“Somebody just ran in and shot everybody in the house. There’s kids,” the witness said, according to a recording of the call released early Sunday, according to Fox19.
