Father, Adam Hilarie, Was Killed After Meeting Girl On Dating Site Turned Out To Be Set-Up

Auburndale, Florida – Police in  have charged four people with murder after an enticing female suspect found 27-year-old Adam Hilarie on a dating site and lured him into taking her on a date. Police say the quartet robbed the Hilarie before, ultimately, shooting and killing him.

The victim, Adam Hilarie, was discovered by his roommate inside their apartment on Sunset Avenue. Detectives determined that Hilarie met a woman, later identified as Hailey Bustos, on a dating website, “Plenty of Fish.” After going on a date with Bustos, police said the two briefly went back to Hilarie’s apartment. Investigators believe Bustos, 18, was just casing the place and plotted to go to Hilarie’s apartment with three men to rob him later in the evening.

Auburndale Police Chief, Andy Ray, said, “Given the way it worked out, it seemed like that’s what she was intending to do. Once she got home, they talked together, they worked out the details, and then they went back and committed the robbery.” Despite the fact that they had shot and killed and innocent 27-year-old man, the group still stole electronics and other valuable items from his apartment.

The three men were identified as Andre Warner, 26; Gary Gray, 31, and Joshua Ellington, 26. Police also said that it is likely that Bustos has been involved in other similar crimes linked to online dating websites. Law enforcement has seen a surge in crimes stemming from the use of meeting people on the internet. Criminals prey on the vulnerable, the elderly, and those looking for companionship. Some of these crimes are very hard to solve. Kudos to the Auburndale police officers involved for bringing these thugs to answer for their crimes, in hopes that justice will prevail. All of the suspects are facing multiple charges including first-degree murder and robbery.

Adam Hilarie was an Auburndale native and an aspiring boxer. His loved ones said he was also a great father. “He brought the best out of everyone,” Cruz continued. “I just hate that my brother had to be the one to be an example. I would hope that people can learn from this and just really take care of themselves and be really careful.”

Correction: The initial report on this indicated that it happened in a Chicago suburb, when it happened in Florida.
