Davie Dauzat Beheads Wife After Police Welfare Check
Bellmead, Texas – After police checked on a couple’s welfare on Thurday, the male beheaded his wife an placed her head in a freezer. 23-year-old Davie Dauzat and his wife, 21-year-old Natasha Dauzat of Bellmead, Texas, lived together in a mobile home with their two children.
This past Thursday, Davie Dauzat’s brother had called Bellmead dispatch and informed them that he was concerned for Dauzat’s welfare. He advised dispatch that Davie had been making strange statements and odd jokes. He believed it may have been drug related. He requested that police respond to Dauzat’s home to check on his welfare and officers responded. Bellmead officers stated that when they arrived, Davie and Natasha appeared calm. Neither seemed to understand why the police would have shown up at their doorstep.
“There was no indication from Natasha or Davie that either of them was in distress or in need of police intervention at that time. They both appeared calm and expressed their curiosity why the police were there,” the press release said.
Just two hours later, the police were called back to the home. Davie Dauzat had barricaded himself along with his two children, in the back room of their mobile home. Negotiators made contact with Dauzat and eventually convinced him to surrender.
Davie Dauzat exited the home covered in blood. When police went inside, they found the home to be bathed in blood and other bodily fluids. They discovered Natasha Dauzat’s headless body within the home; her head was located in the freezer. Their two children were present for the murder. It is unknown at this time what drove Davie Dauzat to beheading Natasha in front of his own children. Bellmead area Police are speculating a combination of mental illness and drug abuse.
Police took temporary custody of the Dauzat’s children. They were eventually placed into the care of child protective services. Fortunately, they suffered no physical harm. However, the emotional trauma Davie Dauzat inflicted on his children will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
Davie Dauzat is currently being held in the McLennan County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
