Los Angeles, CA – Coolio, whose legal name is Artis Leon Ivey, was arrested on Saturday while committing the dumbest crime of the week.

At around 10:30 AM on Saturday, LAX airport police officers responded to Terminal 3 for a firearm in the screening area. Screeners had found a loaded gun inside of a carry-on bag. A 39-year-old man claimed the bag, but it was later determined that the bag actually belonged to his traveling companion, Coolio.

Coolio, 53, was detained by the officers “who upon questioning claimed ownership and possession of the carry­-on bag.” A check of the firearm’s serial number showed that it had been reported stolen.

Not only did Coolio attempt to sneak a loaded stolen firearm into a plane’s passenger area, but he’s a convicted felon and ineligible to possess a firearm. He was booked into jail on the firearm charges.

Twenty years ago, Coolio was one of the most well-known musicians in America when his single “Gangta’s Paradise” topped charts. Since then, things have only gotten worse for the struggling musician, as he has been touring with other rap, hip hop, and R&B musicians who have not been relevant since the 90s.

He has also released his own cookbook, “Cookin’ with Coolio: 5 Star Meals at a 1 Star Price,” which may or may not have the most amazing and/or horrifying description for a cookbook that we’ve ever seen.
