Christopher Kilpatrick Escapes Jail After Trying To Murder Cop

Louderdale County, Alabama – Attempted cop-killer Christopher Kilpatrick has escaped from the Lauderdale County Detention Center Saturday night. He is believed to be armed and dangerous with nothing to lose.

Christopher Wayne Kilpatrick, 43, was last seen fleeing the jail on foot at around 9:14 PM Saturday night. Authorities have since been unable to locate the would-be cop killer, and they warn that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Kilpatrick was being held on no bond pre-trial for attempting to murder Florence Police Detective Michael Price in August of last year.

In August, Detective Sergeant Brad Holmes had been investigating a series of vehicle thefts when he spotted a white Ford F-150 Lariat stolen from the Jacksonburg Church of Christ a day earlier. He stopped the vehicle and called for backup. Detective Price arrived to assist.

As both officers stopped the vehicle, Kilpatrick fled on foot. Detective price pursued him while detective Holmes held the other vehicle occupants at gunpoint.

Kilpatrick and Detective Price got into a scuffle and Kilpatrick drew a gun. Detective Price responded by shooting him in the abdomen.

A stolen gun was recovered from Kilpatrick, who was transported to the hospital and treated for his injuries before being booked for attempted murder of Detective Price.

Christopher Kilpatrick’s criminal history shows a long list of violent crimes. At the time of his arrest, he had escaped from community custody for an assault charge.

Kilpatrick is 6 feet tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He has green eyes and brown hair. Anybody who sees him should call 911 immediately.

At the time of this writing, Kilpatrick has been on the run for almost 24 hours and he could be anywhere. Let’s put his face in front of everybody so that he has nowhere to hide.

UPDATE: WAAY 31 reports that law enforcement believes that Kilpatrick stole a car and may have traveled south of the Tennessee river.

Kilpatrick was able to escape from the jail through the same method that another inmate used to escape a couple of weeks earlier.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton says that he has been working with the county commission to get funding for jail improvements to prevent this sort of thing.
