VIDEO: Pregnant Woman, Christine Braswell, Runs Over Thief

Asheville, NC – A pregnant woman chased down a thief who broke into her car and stole her purse, and ran over him with her SUV, according to WKBW. The thief-flattening was captured on video.

The incident happened in a Walmart parking lot at Bleachery Boulevard about 12:30 PM on Wednesday, June 28, and was captured on WLOS-TV video.

The woman, Christine Braswell, age 26, said she saw the suspect, Robert Raines, going through her car as she left the store.  Raines took off with the woman’s purse, and she tried to confront him.

Braswell told WLOS, ” He was with my purse and he took off and I took off after him.”

She said, “Being five months pregnant, I chased a little ways, then come back, jumped in the car, threw it in gear and came across the curb and ran him over. I was not going to let him get away with it. It’s not right, it’s not fair.”

Raines had minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.  He was charged with felony breaking and entering, larceny, and misdemeanor damage to property.  The damage to property charge resulted from Braswell’s ipad and phone screens being broken during the incident.

Braswell has been charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.  She was not injured.

Our legal experts (a bunch of cops standing around 7-11 drinking coffee) think that Christine Braswell has a good chance of beating the charges if she goes to jury trial with the “he needed a running over” defense.

Considering the thief only sustained minor injuries, do you think that a jury would ever convict Christine Braswell? We’d like to hear what you think. Please let us know in the comments.
