California Suspect In Triple Stabbing In Standoff With Police
Glendale, CA.–A California Suspect who stabbed three people in is in an hours long standoff with police, after two separate pursuits.
The first pursuit began after two adults and one child were stabbed in the 8800 block of Tobias Avenue, just after 1p.m. on Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The victims include a possible spouse and an 11-month old child. Their medical conditions were not immediately available. One woman is believed to be in critical condition.
The California Suspect initially fled and eluded officers but returned later to retrieve his vehicle, according to LAPD spokesman Josh Rubenstein. Officers were waiting at the Panorama City property around 3:30pm., when he returned and another chase ensued. The suspect led officers on a winding chase from the San Fernando Valley to Glendale. The chase ended around Chevy Chase Country Club after the suspect flipped his car while attempting to make a wide turn. He got out of the vehicle and took cover under a tree. He made his way toward Buckingham Road and Chevy Chase Drive, where he ran in to a construction site. He then scaled a partly built home and climbed construction beams a few stories high while being surrounded by law enforcement.
Local news channel KCBS-TV Channel 2 captured aerial footage of the incident, with the man sitting on beams as LAPD officers and K-9 units advanced on the suspect.
The situation has turned in to a standoff with local law enforcement and the Glendale Police Department has urged all residents in the area of Chevy Chase Canyon to remain indoors with the doors locked.
Crisis negotiators and the SWAT team were called in just before 5p.m. and are on scene to communicate with the suspect.
