Video Of Buffalo Officer Running Over Man

Buffalo, NY – A Buffalo police officer was captured on video running over a knife-wielding man in order to save his partner.

The video is quickly going viral with people claiming that the Buffalo police officer ran over an unarmed man. However, the real story is much different than the false story being spread on social media. The full video was taken down, and only edited snippets remain.

WGRZ reports that the incident occurred at around 12:30 PM on Sunday. Officers surrounded a suicidal man who was armed with a butcher knife at Chicago and Fulton streets in Buffalo. After a standoff, officers backed off as the man became more aggressive. The crazed man then brandished his knife, made eye contact with an officer and started to advance on him. Another officer was in an SUV between the suspect and the officer who was being advanced on. The officer in the SUV backed up and then ran down the man.

With the suspect advancing on an officer while brandishing a knife, this was a deadly force situation. The officer in the SUV opted to use a method less likely to be fatal than a group of officers opening fire on the man. No officers were hurt in the incident.

The suspect was loaded into an ambulance and transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The officer in the SUV is a hero. Not only did he save the life of his partner, but he saved the life of the suicidal man who was threatening officers. Unfortunately, he is being attacked on social media for his quick-thinking actions. To this officer we say, good job.
