Sheriff and U.S. Border Patrol Council: Presidential Administration Gives Illegal Immigrants Advice to Avoid Capture
Pinal County Sheriff Babeu and the U.S. Border Patrol Council President are reportedly livid for what they are calling instructions to “illegals” to avoid capture.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection website was recently updated to give information on when and where immigration laws would not be enforced, and critics are calling it a how-to guide for avoiding capture.
Sheriff Paul Babeu stated, “President Obama and his administration continue to make the job of Border Patrol Agents more difficult by imposing new rules that undermine current federal laws. Enacting this latest rule, and posting it on their website has basically told illegals where to go so that they can be in a sanctuary location, safe from law enforcement apprehension. This would be the same as if our Sheriff’s Office posted information on our website letting suspects know how to get out of being arrested for various crimes.”
Pinal County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement:
Pinal County, Arizona has long been labeled as one of the top pass through counties in all of America for drug and human smuggling. Our Anti-Smuggling Enforcement Unit and Aviation Unit work closely with members of the U.S. Border Patrol to arrest as many of the drug and human smuggling cartel suspects as we can but our job just got much more difficult.
Now, on the official website of the Department of Homeland Security- U.S. Customs and Border Protection, they give individuals who enter the United States illegally advice on how to elude law enforcement and avoid being arrested. Individuals who enter the United States illegally, can now find safety and sanctuary at locations such as schools, churches, weddings, hospitals or sites during the occurrence of a public demonstration, such as a march, rally or parade. https://www.cbp.gov/border-security/sensitive-locations-faqs
It also says that the list is “Not an exclusive list, and ICE officers and agents shall consult with their supervisors if the locations of a planned enforcement operation could reasonably be viewed as being at or [near] a sensitive location.” The website also provides a phone numbers so illegals can call to report possible violations of the “sensitive locations” policy.
U.S. Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd reacted, “When is the rule of law and the citizens those laws are there to protect, going to be put ahead of the vane ambitions of the D.C. politicians.”
Immigration reform is viewed by many Democrats as one of President Obama’s greatest failures in office. The President had been pushing through executive actions to alter how the federal government handles deportations. However, in June, the U.S. Supreme Court blocked the President’s plans at immigration reform. This next step appears to be a continuation of the President utilizing all of the power that he can to bypass a hostile Congress on immigration reform.
