Black Lives Matter Vermont Holds Rally To Support Ben & Jerry’s, But It’s Vermont, So…
Burlington, Vermont – In response to our story asking for all Americans to boycott Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, a very small group of Black Lives Matter members were recently seen standing in front of the ice cream store’s Burlington location. In what appears to be a new tactic for Black Lives Matter, they weren’t standing in the roadway. The event appeared to be a showing of solidarity by Black Lives Matter after the ice cream company’s mischaracterization of the entire law enforcement community.
Abby Isaacs with NBC5 reported that Chris Miller, Ben & Jerry’s activism manager, was steadfast in continuing to push the false narratives of there being systemic, and institutionalized racism within the law enforcement community. “People are entitled to their point of view,” said Miller in response to our article. “I think this is the modern day civil rights movement. This movement all over the county was born out of a reaction to violence against people.”
Mr. Miller is ignoring the fact that Black Lives Matter is made up of political organizations who promote political goals that have nothing to do with civil rights. Black Lives Matter is not a civil rights group. Attacks on police continue to plague the nation on a daily basis, but Ben & Jerry’s says nothing about the likelihood of violence inspired by misinformation spread by their company. By intentionally perpetuating the misleading talking points of Black Lives Matter, Ben & Jerry’s is placing the lives of police officers in danger.
What Miller also failed to acknowledge is the insurmountable facts, evidence, statistics, and even court rulings that discredit the false claims made by Black Lives Matter which allege a systemic problem of racial bias in law enforcement use of deadly force.
Earlier this year, Harvard University Professor Roland G. Fryer Jr. published the results of a study he conducted on the existence of racial bias in law enforcement. In this study, 1000 police shootings from 10 large departments in Texas, Florida, and California were examined. Professor Fryer, who is black found himself, was concerned with the treatment of black men like Freddy Gray, and Michael Brown. Once the study concluded, the results revealed, among other things, that there was no indication of racial bias in relation to incidents in which police officers discharged their weapons. The findings of Professor Fryer’s study exposed Black Lives Matter’s founding basis as having been nothing more than myth, hyperbole, and self-serving ambition.
We continue to ask that all Americans boycott Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream and send a message that Black Lives Matter or their goals are not shared by most of America. Please continue to share this information and help us get the word out about this boycott.
