Baton Rouge, LA – New videos and details have been released about the terrorist attack which resulted in the assassination of three officers on July 17, 2016. The District Attorney released video of the gunfight, and notes left behind by the assassin (video below.)

In a written manifesto left behind by terrorist Gavin Long, he said that he was committing the attack in an attempt to force change to punish bad cops.

The manifesto, which shows a lack of understanding of the law and belief in news media’s manufactured “racist cop” narrative, deviates from Black Lives Matter’s message by saying that most cops are good, but he was going to kill them anyway.

“Therefore I must bring the same destruction that bad cops continue to inflict upon my people, upon bad cops as well as good cops in hopes that the good cops (which are the majority) will be able to stand together to enact justice & punishment against bad cops b/c right now the police force & current judicial system is not doing so,” Long wrote.

Later in his manifesto, he praised some “good cops” by name; their names were redacted.

East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar C. Moore III also revealed the Long had attempted to use his computer to locate the two officers involved in the shooting of Alton Sterling. Apparently unable to locate them, Long set up a different plan of attack.

On July 17, six officers were ambushed by Gavin Long at Hammond Aire Plaza, a shopping complex, just before 8:40 AM.  Long, a marine veteran, started by scouting the area while armed with a TAVOR rifle.

Police then received a 911 call about a suspicious person carrying a rifle in the area.  Officers arrived on scene and Long engaged them in a gunfight.

The assassin fired first, fatally wounding three officers.  He shot one officer then wounded his partner who fell to the ground.  A third officer came to the aid of the wounded officer and was shot multiple times during the attempt to help.  All three died as a result of the gunshot wounds.

The suspect then turned and shot another officer then he moved to shoot two Sheriff’s Deputies who were investigating his car.  Around 8:46 AM the SWAT Team responded and one officer took a shot from around 100 yards away, taking Long down and killing him.

The gun battle lasted almost 14 minutes and included 149 shots fired.

Officer Montrell Jackson, 32 and Matthew Gerald, 41, both of the Baton Rouge Police Department, lost their lives that day.  Deputy Brad Garafola, 45, of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s office, also died from his injuries.
