Maybrook Police Bodycam Video Of Gunfight With Anthony Bostick

Maybrook, New York – Dramatic bodycam video has been released which shows the gunfight with Anthony Bostick that resulted in Maybrook Chief Arnold “Butch” Amthor getting shot (video below.)

The incident happened on Tuesday when Anthony Bostick barricaded himself in his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. Four officers along with Chief Amthor breached the front door at around 9:20 AM to remove Bostick from the residence.

Officers confronted Bostick, who refused to follow commands before opening fire on officers. Chief Arnold Amthor was shot in the shoulder, and officers threw a lot of lead back at him. The officers then retreated and surrounded the home for several hours before going back in side and finding Bostick dead.

It’s not clear at this time if Anthony Bostick was killed by the officers’ bullets, or a self-inflicted gunshot.

Chief Amthor is recovering from his wound and expected to be discharged from the hospital soon. No one else was injured.

“Butch is a true gentleman who has dedicated his life to law enforcement,” Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus said, according to ABC7. “He is expected to make a full recovery…I visited with Butch at the hospital, and I commend the St. Luke’s Hospital staff for their professionalism and care that they have provided Chief Amthor.”

“He was a standout police officer,” Neuhaus said. “He was always thinking ahead, watching different trends. He’d be the first one to help his fellow officers. As you see, as police chief, a lot of people saying he should be sitting at a desk. That’s not the type of chief he is.”

Police Chief Amthor is the full-time police chief in Montgomery, and the part-time police chief in Maybrook.
