Allegheny Probation Officer Ambushed
Wilkinsburg, PA – An Allegheny probation officer and a “client” were shot Wednesday in what police are calling an ambush shooting. Both men were transported to the hospital and the gunmen remain at large.
Law enforcement were called to the 1500 block of Marlboro Avenue on Wednesday around 5 PM with reports of shots fired.
According to the Allegheny County Police Supt. Coleman McDonough, “Upon their arrival, officers discovered two gunshot victims at 1543 Marlboro. Both victims were transported from the scene. At the time of transport, both victims were responsive to paramedics. The suspects who came down an alley directly across the street from 1543 and began to fire at the victims who were seated on the porch of that residence.”
“One of the victims shot was a [Allegheny] County probation officer. He was responsive, walking and talking at the the time of transport,” McDonough said.
According to CBS Pittsburgh 11 to 12 shots were fired by two men with handguns, and one bullet grazed the probation officer’s head. Nine bullets were found embedded in the home and police found multiple shell casings on scene.
It’s not clear at this time of the probation officer or the client were the primary target of the attack.
Police are still searching for the two men responsible. They are described as black males, wearing all black clothing, in their late teens or early twenties.
There has not been an update on the identity of the probation officer or the second man that was shot, or their conditions.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this apparent assassination attempt. There’s little doubt that law enforcement in the area will hunt tirelessly until the suspects are taken into custody.
