12 Year Old Arrested For Plot To Kill Police
A 12 year old was arrested for a plot to kill police in Baton Rouge on Friday. The juvenile was the fourth suspect in a robbery of a local pawn shop in which numerous handguns were stolen. The robbery occurred a week prior and three of the four suspected hoodlums were arrested shortly after. A male suspect managed to escape apprehension but Baton Rouge’s finest were able to hunt him down.
One of the suspects who was initially caught after the robbery, had some very distressing news to share with police. He allegedly advised they were stealing the guns so they could shoot police officers. The attack was supposed to happen during protests against the recent police-involved shootings.
Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie responded to the threats with a show of force during the weekend protests. While the increased police presence has raised questions from the local community, Chief Dabadie didn’t falter and kept the increased presence for obvious officer safety concerns.
The robbery took place shortly after the justifiable shooting of Alton Sterling and the shooting of Philando Castile, which we are all still waiting for more evidence to surface before we rush to judgment. Unfortunately, the rest of America is not able to use the same level of logic and these shootings have since inspired national unrest and violence against law enforcement.
USA Today reports:
Baton Rouge Police say they arrested a 12-year-old boy Friday who they say was the fourth suspect in a plot to kill police with handguns stolen from a city pawn shop.
Police arrested three suspects after the pawn shop robbery almost a week earlier. One of the suspects allegedly told responding officers that they were stealing the weapons to harm officers during protests against police-involved shootings, according to Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie. …
“We took this as a very viable threat,” Dabadie said at a press conference about the pawn shop robbery last week. “We have received questions as to why we used such a show of force during weekend protests, this is why.”
