Video: Inmates Record Jailbreak From Orange County Jail

Santa Ana, CA – Three prisoners recorded their escape from the Orange County Jail last year, and video of the escape has now been released (video below.)

The heavily edited video was released for an attorney in the case to NBC4. It is narrated by inmate Adam Hossein Nayeri, and appears to be a PR move on their part. Claims from the prisoners should be considered with some skepticism.

The escape happened in January 2016 when Hossein Nayeri, Jonathan Tieu, and Bac Duong escaped from the Orange County Jail by cutting through at least four layers of metal to access the unsecured plumbing tunnels.

They were later captured while living in a utility van.

“You know, a lot of people like to credit us with some Houdini escape act all in eight minutes flat. It’s an interesting myth: Three guys sneaking out of a maximum-security module right after a supposed 5 a.m. count without anyone noticing,“ Nayeri narrates.

“In reality, it is true, we did leave that module after count. Not the one they’re claiming, though. I left that module at least eight hour earlier, the night before.”

“It took 50 hours just to set things up. As far as setup goes, well, we had a duffel bag and a backpack full of stuff. Bundles, hundreds of feet of high-grade industrial ropes. Practically a toolbox down to sized shoes, clothes and much more.”

“We scared the hell out of people and caused a lot of anxiety and fear. At the end of the day, I can’t say I feel good about that.”

The video shows the prisoners lifted a sawed-off bunk bed and a cut-open screen behind it. The three escapees then crawl through the walls until they make it to the roof where they made their escape.
