Students Offend By Wearing Red, White, And Blue To Valley High School Basketball Game

Valley, IA – Valley High School students are being called offensive for wearing red, white, and blue to a basketball game.

Fox Insider reports that the students were spotted wearing patriotic colors while attending a basketball game. The school was playing against Des Moines North High School which has some students who are refugees.

“Any normal person, any educated person can look at that and think what the hell are these kids thinking,” said Valley High School Coach Morgan Wheat.

There’s no explanation for why normal or educated people are supposed to know that wearing your national flag’s colors is somehow offensive to guests to the country. Either the coach knows something we don’t, or this is a bunch of nonsense.

The students apologized and said that the America themed attire was worn at previous games with no problems, and wasn’t meant to target any group of students.

Student leaders sent the following apology to Des Moines North High:

It has been brought to our attention that the decision by the Valley High School student section to wear U.S.A. apparel at our game last night was offensive to members of your community and fan base. We are deeply sorry if we have offended anyone in any way. We have traditionally dressed in such a fashion for great games such as the one last night. Everyone here at Valley has immense respect not only for your team and players but for your community as a whole. Please know that our intent was in no way to offend or demean—just to support our own team in a way we have done before.

Do you think that the students need to be more considerate, or is this political correctness out of control? We’d like to hear what you think. Please let us know in the comments.
