Off-Duty Officer Shot By Another Cop At Scene Of Gunfight, So Media Decides To Push ‘Racist Cop’ Narrative

NY Daily News originally went with a headline suggesting racism caused the shooting, and replaced it when the facts didn't line-up. Other news sources haven't bothered.

Media Works Hard to Stir Up Racial Tensions After Blue-On-Blue Shooting

St. Louis, MO – An off-duty police officer was shot by another officer after a mix-up following a gunfight. Now, the mainstream media has picked up on the story because the injured officer is black, which allows them to push their “racist cop” narrative.

The incident started Wednesday night after police located a stolen vehicle being driven downtown at 10 PM. Officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, and it took off.

During the pursuit, the three suspects in the vehicle opened fire on officers, striking the police cars, according to St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The stolen car finally crashed near the intersection of Park Lane and Astra Avenue, and the three occupants fled on foot. Two officers fired at the suspects, hitting one in the ankle.

An unidentified off-duty police officer heard the commotion and came out of his home armed with his gun. Officers on scene ordered him to drop his gun and get on the ground, and he did. The group of officers then recognized him, and told him that he could go ahead and stand up and come on over to them.

Another officer who was responding to the gunfight arrived just in time to see the off-duty officer proned out, then stand up and advance on the other officers. Knowing that the suspects had already shot at police, and the seeing the off-duty officer proned out like a suspect, the newly-arrived officer fired his weapon once, striking the off-duty officer in the arm.

We have been unable to confirm if the off-duty officer had retrieved his weapon and was holding his gun at the time of the shooting.

What appears to be an unfortunate and reasonable mistake at the scene of a gunfight took and even darker tone once the off-duty officer was identified as being black, and the officer who shot him was identified as white.

The news media pushed the narrative about police being racist in order to boost the ratings of an otherwise bland story. The anti-police crowd pushed the narrative because it makes the police look bad. And nobody else bothered to stop and question if the narrative even makes sense.

A police officer coming to a scene and saying, “Hey look, there’s a random black guy! I’ll just shoot him for being black now,” only makes sense to the most delusional anti-police zealots. Unfortunately, average people don’t take the time to consider reasonableness before buying the “racist police” narrative.

New York Daily News appeared to realize that maybe they went a little overboard with the racism angle, and they changed their headline.

Most other news sources are still staffed by assholes.

The incident ended with two suspects in custody, and one escaped. The off-duty officer was transported to the hospital, treated and released. We wish him a speedy recovery.
