Ambush Attack On Police In Detroit, Suspects At Large
Detroit Officers Ambushed By Suspects With Rifle
Detroit, MI – A manhunt is underway for three suspects who open-fired on officers in an ambush-style attack Wednesday morning in Detroit.
The officers were patrolling the area of Remington near Derby at approximately 10:30 am Wednesday when eight to ten shots were fired in their direction.
At this time officers witnessed a male suspect armed with what appeared to be an AR-15 fleeing the vicinity. The suspect is described as a black male, wearing all black with a white T-shirt under his jacket. The vehicle is described as an older model four door Chrysler that is silver in color.
According to an official statement released by the Detroit Police Department additional suspects are being sought in the incident.
News sources are reporting eye-witness accounts of the shooter leveling his rifle at the officers clearly marked vehicle just moments before the shots were fired. Luckily no injuries were sustained. The only reason we aren’t mourning the loss of these officers in the ambush attack is because the suspect is a horrible shot.
Detroit Police Director of Communications Michael Woody told Detroit Free Press the incident was definitely an ambush attack on officers. “These are serious times.” He continued, “As police leaders, elected officials, we have to stand in one unified voice and denounce this violence against police officers. Any attack on a police officer is an attack on all of us. This cannot happen.”
The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspects. If you have any information please contact Crime Stoppers 1-800-SPEAK UP.
