Five Bullets Fired Directly At Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Building

Bonney Lake, Washington – Pierce County Deputies are searching for the person, or persons, responsible for opening-fire on the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department building in a Bonney Lake, Saturday night.

The incident took place at approximately 10:20 PM, according to the Sheriff’s Department. The outbuilding was struck by five bullets while deputies were inside. Thankfully, no one was injured during the barrage.

According to Q13FOX, Pierce County Sheriff, Paul Pastor, released the following statement:

“This crime is a direct attack on our Deputies. But it is also an attack on the entire community. If you attack the people who keep citizens safe, you attack the foundation of safety in the community. Whatever the motivation for this action, it is dangerous and it is flat unacceptable. If someone has the twisted idea that this is an opportune time to strike out at law enforcement, they will learn that they are sorely mistaken.”

Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Investigators believe that the perpetrator(s), responsible for the shooting, parked their vehicle away from the building, approached the building on foot, aimed their weapon, and fired it directly into the window of the office building where deputies were sitting.

Investigators also believe the suspect(s) knew there were deputies inside the building when the shots were fired.

Sheriff Pastor worries that we, as a community, are becoming “numb” to shootings and is asking for the public’s assistance in bringing this suspect to justice. This attack on law enforcement comes just two days after Sheriff Pastor spoke on the murder of hero Officer Jake Gutierrez, “I’m worried that this is becoming far too frequent, and by its frequency, we become somewhat numb to this. This is a loss not only to the Tacoma Police Department, not only to the law enforcement community, it’s the loss of one more person who is willing to step forward to put themselves at risk, and their families, at risk to serve the community.”

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. Please call 1-800-222-TIPS if you have any information.
