New Black Panthers Leader Gets Robbed, Calls Police For Help, Police Response is Awesome

A New Black Panthers leader learned the hard way that police are there to help. Ali Muhammad is known in Tampa for being a leader of the New Black Panthers party, and he is very critical of law enforcement. When Muhammad got robbed at gunpoint, he found himself calling the police for help.

Last Friday, Muhammad was walking home from working as a DJ at a local club.

“I was approached by a young black male who just came up to me and said, ‘Give me your earrings and your backpack,'” Muhammad told Fox 32, “He took everything I had. At the time, he didn’t take my cell phone, and that’s what made me call 911.”

Muhammad started to follow the suspect while speaking with police, but he stopped following when the dispatcher urged him not to.

The suspect continued to rob two additional people at gunpoint. “One lady, she was in tears. She said she couldn’t believe it. He had the gun in her mouth,” said Muhammad.

Officers flooded the area and located the suspect, 18-year-old Antwan Robertson. After a short foot pursuit, officer’s located Robertson hiding behind a dumpster. Officers were able to arrest Robertson and return Muhammad’s belongings to him. Robertson is now being held on three counts of armed robbery, possession of a firearm, and possession of drugs.

“Police can be hostile and very belligerent. Friday night, I met some officers who [were] about business, and that was getting a bad guy off the street,” said Muhammad.

Black-on-black crime is also a focus of Muhammad’s New Black Panthers group, “To just go out late at night and throw your life away, robbing people, that’s hurting,” he continued. “Every black life is valuable right now, especially a black male, and for him to keep going on with the norm, continue with the process of going to jail and ending your life like that, as our boys are doing nowadays, it’s very hurting.”

Muhammad’s view from the New Black Panthers actually seems much less extreme than the organized Black Lives Matter groups. Muhammad advised that he believes in building relationships between the police and the communities that they serve, whereas Black Lives Matter refuses to even speak with police.

The New Black Panther Party has been designated as a hate group by the SPLC.

Muhammad also talked about realistic goals, such as reducing crime, rather than demanding to be paid a salary for being black.

While the initial robbery was unfortunate, hopefully this incident helped build a bridge in a community that needs it.

Everyone will need and or meet a police officer for one reason or another in their life- great story! I hope Muhammed does continue with his goals, he’s taking a great step in the right direction! Let him show BLM how it’s done!

    • DinoBeliver

He needs to change the name of his group if he is going to make any change. That name is tainted by cop assassinations and armed robberies committed by it’s members. It would be the equivalent of a group in Germany calling itself the “New Nazi Party”…

      • Gene Barnett

I don’t know .. think back for a minute .. back to the ’60s .. and the musical group “The New Christie Minstrels” (google The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour) Nobody even remembers or even heard of the “The Christie Minstrels” .. I’m just saying:
Wouldn’t it be nice if the ‘New Black Panthers’ became the group of young black men that became the unifying force between the men in blue and the youth (black, white, red and yellow) that are so in need of mentors and role models?

        • DinoBeliver

Your analogy is really weak. Anyone who was alive in the 60’s and 70’s will remember the Black Panther Party, unless they were raised in a cave. They assassinated cops from coast to coast. What is the up side of using an offensive name? I don’t think there is one.

          • Darin Lunderman

I think naming yourself after an organization of hate and spreading a message of true peace and amenity for your fellow neighbor regardless of any racial or professional identity, is the one of the best ways or redeeming said name and paying back tribute to all those who were killed by the original intentions of the name.

        • Hefailed

Well, I for one remember the Christie Minstrels. They were known for robbing convenience stores and leaving leaflets proclaiming the revolution was at hand. They kidnapped a judge, duct taped a shotgun to his head – they engaged in shootouts with the police, pushing for Christie power. I was so glad when the New Christie Minstrels came along and soon the Minstrels actions were erased from my memory.

No, of course nobody remembers the Christie Minstrels. What the hell kind of comparison is THAT?!

          • DinoBeliver

It’s obvious that Gene Barnett ate a few too many magic mushrooms. Comparing the name or the group “The New Christie Minstrels” to the Black Panthers can only done by someone who rides a unicorn to work and follows the rainbow home each night.

          • Worm

You know what…? Go fuck yourself, azzhat. You have nothing to offer society.

          • DinoBeliver

Do you kiss your mother with that mouth? Don’t bother answering, I’ll ask her myself this weekend.

  • DinoBeliver

I hope the cops had some fun with him while he was there filling out the paperwork to get his property back. I would have paid good money to be there and watch.

  • Gene Barnett

Wouldn’t it be nice if the ‘New Black Panthers’ became the group of young black men that became the unifying force between the men in blue and the youth (black, white, red and yellow) that are so in need of mentors and role models?

    • Graham

      Dreaming?

      • Ekul1021

Yes, Dreaming? Then again if they REALLY work on it, then it can happen like what Snoop did with the LAPD. But then BLM will always hate so pretty much they already got Hitler helping them to keep that hate going.

    • Ekul1021

If the members are serious about then, then that will be reality. Just look at how the Black Lives (lies) Matter did in LA, they refused to talk to the LAPD, but Snoop Doggy, walk passed them, went into the LAPD, and had a conference with the Chief. There are some racist and loser police mark my words, but there are a lot police who work not for a paycheck, but want to help the community and there some people like Snoop who want to stop the shootings too.

    • Ekul1021

Here is Snoop’s recent contribution to stopping black on black violence.

    • The Truth

Yes, Gene….it “would” be nice….BUT…..you’re not dealing with rational people, when you’re talking about the “New Black Panthers”.

Go To YouTube and Click On ~ “King Samir Shabazz – Kill White Babies”

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Y3Cd9gnvlw

Shabazz is a leader in the New Black Panthers.

      • BDBerzerker

        Queen Shitzu Shamwow is back……….

      • Summer

And why would he suggest that? They’re too cute! Even his own people want to procreate with whites. Silly! This youtube is disgusting. Obama and change in the same sentence? Lol! Yup, change for the worst. My hard earned money going to the lazy a**! I should learn how to be poor so I can be rich!

    • Vicki Simonetti Giglio

great concept…..it would take black men of steel determination to decide to do that ……then do it…..Imagine the positive influence they would have on the young black kids……that would change their way of life more than anything!

    • Matt Taylor

      Hmmm….

  • michele king

These people who put down police officers do not think before they do. Same thing happened in MS when the Hattiesburg police officers were killed. The Subway employee who priaised the killers on social media found herself calling upon police officers to protect her from the threats she was receiving.

Don’t believe he has good intentions!!

    • Ekul1021

Then again, it’s hard for the neo-nazi wannabe groups like the New Black Panther, or the Black Sturmabteilung to end their rein of violence and hate talk.

  • Sandy Interrante

Many times, it takes a person to become a victim of crime to see what it feels like being assaulted. It’s an invasion of personal space & property. Hopefully, he’ll be less aggressive towards cops & less complacent toward criminals. If his phone was taken, he could have been another statistic of crime.

  • Graham

I would have told him that I would not answer the call Because I figure it is an ambush. A little of this might make them think their position!

  • Yankee ’42

No one with the name of Muhammed should be trusted. ¿Where had you been for the last fifteen years? ¿Had you ever heard of taqqiah?

    • Worm

Well, that was stupid. I have had to trust a few guys named Mohammed, Achmed and Yaziri several times in my life. And I have been around them quite a bit over the last 20 years.
Are you afraid of guys named Buddy, Earl or Bubba?

      • Yankee ’42

        As credible as your name.

  • Ken

How ironic that a black man robbed him…..haha Typical nigs

    • Worm

      Racist bigot ^^^^

  • dave

Funny , he didn’t call sharp toon for help!

  • Hmmmm

  • Jeff Klein

    Well, it’s something.

  • BostonBean

So did Ali Mohammed describe the criminal as a ‘black’ teenager? When the caller in Boston called in (at the request of a neighbor mind you) the possible housebreak in Cambridge, the debacle that was the Prof Gates incident, the poor caller was berated in the press for mentioning the color of his skin. Which she did NOT by the way. It was outrageous. If you think a crime is in progress and the police later need to bolo for the criminal, why on earth would you not use race as one of the descriptors? For all anyone knew at that point, Gates could have been a criminal committing a B&E, or could have assaulted/raped someone in the house. No one knew. But the general outrage included that his race somehow was mentioned. Just wondering if this New Black Pather described his assailant by race. Willing to bet he did, with no consequences like the Boston caller met with.

  • mrconservative200

Wait….so what were the Officer’s response? The article did not say.

  • Scott

So a nigger robbing another nigger, who hate cops, then calls the men in Blue to save his sorry ass. Unreal! You can’t make this shit up!

    • Worm

My goodness, you are nothing but a fucking racist dypshyt.

  • Ced Truz

So wait, what was the police’s “awesome” response?

    • Worm

That they didn’t shoot someone. That was the awesome response

  • Kitty Kat

This is a cool story, Muhammad sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders…so glad he got to see first hand how the police are there to help. They deal with scum like the guy that robbed him at gunpoint daily, it’s not as easy as people thing…God bless them all..

  • BALOsaar

black on black crime.. holy shit. If only black lives mattered to the Black Lives matter movement.

  • TownWatch7

Interesting that the first person a black calls when a crime is committed against him by another black is the police no matter who he is. Maybe he should have called the BLM movement or the Southern Poverty Law Center, NAACP ,ACLU, or Obama’s DOJ.

  • maliesa

Not surprising to me at all that the cops did their job, what is surprising to me is that he called them in the first place. As distrustful as they are right now, I believed they wanted no interaction with law enforcement in the first place.

  • fanniemac

    Lesson learned.

  • Rachel Campus

Oh… sorry, not one sh*t given here.

  • Linda Vidyashanker

    Excellent story

  • Summer

Did this story make it to CNN, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Huffington Post, USA Today, and every darn way news is relayed? If not, why not? I knew someone would call the police eventually. LOSERS!

  • Summer

I doubt he can make much difference. They love their way of life. Freebies.

  • Mannie

He sounds like the kind of leader the Black Panthers need. Someone needs to lead in reforming their culture of violence, and it has to be from within.

  • michaelpc

These people can save the children on the streets, instead of teaching hate.

  • Sheanean Sharp Harman

It would make sense to disassociate themselves with the Panthers and create a new identity. Their cause seems like a step in the right direction where as the Panthers are anti police and racist, white haters. They need a new name to seperate then from this mentality.

  • Ron Hussey

The new Black Panthers leader is a clueless moron.

  • janetdarby

Their job is to protect and serve
