Three Of Cop-Killer’s Accomplices Arrested. Markeith Loyd, We’re Coming For You
Three Of Markeith Loyd’s Accomplices Arrested
Orlando, FL – Three of Markeith Loyd’s accomplices have been arrested for aiding the man who murdered master Sgt. Debra Clayton on Monday.
One suspect, Jamesia Slaughter, was arrested Wednesday evening for helping wanted fugitive Markeith Loyd avoid capture.
According to WFTV9 ABC, Slaughter is a friend of Loyd, and is currently being interviewed by Orange County Deputies. It is not known yet how she helped Loyd but it is believed she provided assistance since he fled on Monday.
Loyd is wanted for the murder of Master Sgt. Debra Clayton and also for the death of Orange County Detective First Grade Norman Lewis. Orange County DFG Lewis also died on Monday after being involved in a traffic crash while looking for Loyd immediately after Sgt. Clayton’s murder. A massive manhunt is underway to locate Loyd and hundreds of officers are involved. It is believed that Loyd is still in the Orlando area.
He is also wanted in the murder of his pregnant ex-girlfriend Sade Dixon, age 24, and the assault of her brother which occurred on December 13, 2016, when he came to her aid.
According to News6, Zarghee Mayan, age 33, also known as “Naz”, of Orlando, was arrested by Orlando Police Officers on Tuesday January 10, 2017 for helping Loyd avoid capture after he killed Dixon. He was charged with Accessory After the Fact in First-Degree Murder. Mayan last saw Loyd on Saturday, January 7, 2017, two days before Orlando Master Sgt. Clayton was shot and killed. Police said that he was also with Loyd on the night that Dixon was killed and that Loyd admitted that he had shot and killed his ex-girlfriend.
Mayan told police that Loyd has been wearing a bullet-proof vest since Dixon’s murder. On Saturday, Loyd went to Mayan and asked him for food and money. He said Loyd had a handgun in his waist, and that Loyd told him that he would shoot any police officer that tried to stop him. They worked together at a restaurant called Texas Fried Chicken, and Mayan fed him for free on Saturday night. Mayan told police when he was interviewed yesterday that another suspect, Lakensha Smith-Loyd, had taken Loyd’s paycheck to him.
The third suspect, Lakensha Smith-Loyd, was also arrested today for helping Loyd avoid capture in Dixon’s murder. She is his niece and went to his employer to pick up his $200 paycheck on Saturday January 7, 2017. Although she urged her uncle to turn himself in after Dixon’s murder, Smith-Loyd actually knew where Loyd was. She told Orange County Deputies that she would only turn him in if Deputies would tell her whether or not there was a gun at location where Dixon was shot and killed, because she believed that he was defending himself.
When Smith-Loyd called Orange County Deputies, she had specific information about Dixon’s death but eventually stopped cooperating with Deputies. She has been charged with An Accessory After the Fact to Life First Degree, which is a second-degree felony.
A tip was received today around 3:00 PM that Loyd may be at the strip club Flash Dancers in Orlando. Multiple officers went to the club and the owner granted consent to search. Loyd was not there. The owner said that Loyd used to work there but that he has not seen him since July, 2016.
Orlando Police Chief John Mina and Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings have vowed to capture Loyd and bring him to justice. A $100,000 reward has been offered for anyone turning Loyd in and confidentiality is guaranteed. Please call 1-800-423-TIPS or 911 if you have information. Police urge anyone with information to call and not to approach Loyd, who is considered armed and extremely dangerous.
We pray for the safety of all Officers involved in the intense search for Loyd. We also urge anyone who has knowledge of Loyd’s location to turn him in. No other civilians or law enforcement officers need to die at his hand.
Markeith Loyd, we’re coming for you.
