KFC Employee Threatened to Spit in Cop’s Food.

Sullivan, Missouri – A KFC worker saw a Franklin County Deputy in the drive-thru line, and rather than thank this hero for serving his community, the worker said that he was going to spit in the deputy’s food.

Sheriff Deputies in Franklin County, Missouri have been slowly winning a battle against meth labs spattering their rural landscape.  Known as the mecca for meth production in a state labeled as the “meth capital of the world”, they have been fighting these tweakers for nearly 20 years.

Their hard work has paid off.  They have seen a recent and steady decline in meth production.  Thanks to the men and women of the Franklin County Sheriffs Department, Missouri has slipped to number 5 in the U.S. for production of the illicit drug.  Their tactics have even been featured on 60 Minutes and Investigation Discovery.  There is no doubt that their efforts are saving lives, families, and reducing crime in Missouri.

And how does this local restaurant worker show their gratitude?  They offer to spit in the deputy’s food.

Luckily, the deputy heard the comment before receiving any food and opted for other options.  Although the employee was eventually fired, the entire interaction, even from the corporate end, does not sit well.

The incident became public when the deputy took to Facebook to alert fellow officers.  His warning spread (while protecting his identity), and recently caught our attention.  The officer reported hearing the employee through the open back door saying, “Oh ****, it’s a cop.  Someone let me know which order is his so I can spit in all of his food”.  Wisely the deputy ducked out of line and spoke to a manager.

The manager responded by stating the employee in question would not be the one preparing his food, but also did not offer any apology.  The manager hardly showed any compassion for her customer, much less a deputy sworn to protect their establishment.

Local media source, KMOV in St Louis, received the following statement from KFC:  “KFC’s policy is to treat everyone fairly, equally and with respect, and we do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. Upon learning of this incident, the franchisee who owns the restaurant conducted an immediate and thorough investigation, and the employee was terminated.”

Well, then, it’s settled.  They are sorry for the….wait….still no apology?  Maybe some props for the job the boys do in Franklin County?  Nothing?!  Not even from corporate?!

If you are like us, you are outraged by KFC refusing to provide the level of service, assurance, respect, or apologies that the men and women of the Franklin County Sheriffs Department deserve.  If you’d like to drop KFC a line on Facebook, I’m sure they’d love to hear from you.

Years ago when a local restaurant outside of Fort Bragg raised the prices right as all the service members were getting out of the base — This was Special just for them….. — When the base Commander got wind of it — he did what any good Commander would do…. He banned ALL personal from going to the establishment !! Works like a charm it only took a few days and the prices were back to there Normal for EVERYONE !!! If People would get together and BAN these Establishments when these things happen — it would pretty much stop — as we all know MONEY Talks !! Thank you Officers for all you do to keep us Protected !! God Bless

      I actually remember that

    • Nail_31

That was beyond disgusting for that store to do that to military members. I remember another case where speed traps were set around the base in San Diego. The Base Commander made the town off limits and provided buses to take the personnel to another city on week-ends, etc. City policies were quickly changed.

It’s amazing what people can do when they stand together — now days people are just toooooo damn self centered to care !! When I hear of these outrageous things I refuse to do business with the company until they make it right. I know the few pennies I have don’t make much of a difference to these big companies but it’s a start — I also write on there web page and send letters directly to the corporate offices — we have to make this stop somehow — this is MY contribution !! Have a Great Day !!

        • Nail_31

It is even more effective if you send a letter to the home office of the company. So few people take the time to respond in writing that each response is seen to represent at least 7,000 other citizens.

I am so sorry this was done to that police officer and I am glad the person behind it lost their job. Yes someone should have apologized to the officer. I am so glad the officer heard the plan before he got his food, makes me sick that anyone would do this to another human, it is sick. Thank you for your service and I am so sorry this was done to you. God bless.

Jesse Jackson used to spit in the food of white patrons, by his own admission. He too is a racist, fathered kids out of wedlock WHILE married and he went to the White House to be a spiritual advisor to bill clinton. What a joke.

    • KFC

The franchisee who owns the restaurant conducted an immediate and thorough investigation, terminated the employee, and apologized to the officer.

It’s not really chicken anyway so stay away !! They are “birds given hormones and stuck together until they are plumed up with God knows what. If you could see what goes on in these “farms’ you would never eat there again. Even tho this is reason enough !

  • Leona

I sent KFC a msg on their facebook page telling them how outraged I am over this incident. I said I expected them to contact the franchises owner and force them to make a public apology to law enforcement in Sullivan. I told them I will no longer be eating at any KFC’s unless they can assure me that this will not be tolerated at ANY KFC! If I don’t get a response they will also get a phone call. 800 225-5532

    • KFC

Leona, we responded to your August 14th message on August 15th with the following message: ”
Thanks for reaching out to us, Leona. Our policy is to treat everyone fairly, equally and with respect, and we do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. Upon learning of this incident, the franchisee who owns the restaurant conducted an immediate and thorough investigation, apologized to the officer, and the employee was terminated.”

      • Leona

Thank you for responding in an appropriate and timely manner. No one would want an employee that even joked about something like this.

  • Menton79

KFC is terrible for you anyway, no police officer should be eating that garbage.

  • Jack Reilly

The worker (sic) needs his teeth kicked out…….all I gotta say….thanks.

  • Common Man

You’d think that the punk could be arrested for tampering with food, and why is that NOT a felony? Second, Kiss KFC goodbye, your heart will thank you too.

    • KFC

The team member did not spit in food – they threatened to spit in food. The employee was terminated and the franchisee who owns the restaurant has spoken directly to the sheriff’s deputy to apologize.

  • Debunker

no one should eat that garbage anyways. they use mini-dwarf chickens, the mashed potatoes taste like glue paste, i remember the Colonel hated what they did to he food, so just boycott the the garbage and save yourself from heart disease.

There are many restaurants that known police officers should avoid going to. Especially in uniform. And as more and more restaurants are discovered to have irresponsible employees, there will be more and more officers bringing in their own lunches. Restaurants will just have to suffer when employees are known to adulterate the food they serve. It won’t just be Chipotle having trouble.

  • KFC

The team member did not spit in food – they threatened to spit in food. The employee was terminated and the franchisee who owns the restaurant has spoken directly to the sheriff’s deputy to apologize.

    • Mark Hermanson

      thanks for stepping in

    • Laura

Policy needs to be changed. This is unacceptable. Who cares if he didn’t spit in the food, he threatened to. Do you support your employees discriminating against police officers? I will be eating Bojangles chicken from now on.

      • KFC

We agree that this is unacceptable, Laura. That is why the employee was terminated.

  • No more KFC for our family. Not another dime. This type of behavior is unacceptable.

    • KFC

We agree. Our policy is to treat everyone fairly, equally and with respect, and we do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. Upon learning of this incident, the franchisee who owns the restaurant conducted an immediate and thorough investigation, apologized to the officer, and the employee was terminated.
