“Unarmed” Keith Lamont Scott Shot – Gun Recovered

UPDATE: Riots have begun in the area where the shooting occurred. People are getting assaulted and rioters are looting. More information on the rioting HERE.

Charlotte, North Carolina – An officer involved shooting took place a few hours ago in North Carolina. Contrary to what the suspect’s family is saying about their family member, Keith Lamont Scott, being “unarmed”, Charlotte police recovered a gun on scene.

Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police were searching for a wanted suspect at the Village at College Downs apartments Tuesday afternoon when they ran into Keith Lamont Scott. Officers on scene stated that they observed a man (Scott) get out of a vehicle armed with a gun. Police approached the man after he had gotten back in to his car. As police drew closer to the Scott, he stepped out of the car with the gun and an officer shot him.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Chief Kerr Putney stated that the man posed an imminent deadly threat to the officers. Officers immediately began performing CPR and rendering first aid to Scott after the shooting. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where he died of his injuries.

The shooting officer has been identified as Officer Brentley Vinson. Both men are black.

Police have recovered the firearm that Keith Lamont Scott was holding when he was shot.

A woman at the scene of the shooting who claimed to be Scott’s daughter live-streamed on Facebook for over an hour.

On the Facebook stream the woman can be heard screaming “they shot my daddy, he didn’t have no gun.” and “they just plantin shit, they shot my mo***f*****n daddy four times for being black”. One officer walked by the woman filming and she states “he probably rapes his m*****f****** daughter” towards the officer.

She continued to call the officers ugly and shout profanities at them.

In the Facebook video you can see a crowd gathering and shouting insults at the officers. One man can be heard yelling “put your guns down and we’ll fight you” to the police.

A local news reporter was told by family members and neighbors that Keith Lamont Scott “was only reading a book“.

In the video below you can see over 100 people have already gathered outside the apartment complex. They can be heard screaming Black Lives Matter.

Use live ammo on any rioter causing property or personal injury. Protest all you want, but rioters should be shot.

          • Ro – dR

ah racism with racism. showing your colors.

          • HeruRising06

Hmm you only had words for one of the the two posters venting racist crap. I guess that’s how you view life white folk should be free to say what they choose, and black folk should be quiet. SmH

          • biznesschic

Black people should not legally own guns either.

      • Ro – dR

Ahh, the race card so surprised. You realize pointing out these people are taking money from the “racist” state and not being productive is not racist. Its a fact. I agree, anyone doing criminal mischief like rioting should immediately lose their benefits. I refuse to have my moral authority removed because some childish low-information type wants to call people names.

        • IfGunsDontKillThenWhyUseOne

You do realize that blanketing “these people” as “not being productive and taking money from the state”….. is the definition of racism? Open up your eyes and just attempt for a second to give even the smallest effort to understand how other people feel and what they deal with in their lives.

And you do also realize you just referred to a daughter who just had her father murdered as “some childish low-information type (who) wants to call people names?”

These are your words. Not mine. Amazing when you read them back, right?

          • biznesschic

While he lives in NC, a southern state that takes more in taxes, than they pay.

          • tv22

Actually NC is right in the middle on that list – just above Ohio, Michigan, Rhode Island and Maryland. But go on believing your bias.

          • biznesschic

I live close to thoes states, and we are supporting you yahoos who shoot black people for owning legal guns.

          • 4Common_Sense2

Seriously?? Where are your statistics for that comment?

          • thistownwilleatyou

Well maybe they should be productive and stop taking money from the state… just sayin

          • biznesschic

NC? They take in more money than they pay in taxes.

          • Gary Cooper

You do realize racism is based on RACE, right? It would be called discrimination otherwise. And by the way I use one to protect myself and my family from thugs like those protesting in charlotte.

          • biznesschic

Oh please. The state voted for people to be able to carry without a permit, meaning that you just don’t shoot black men with a gun. IF you disagree, change the law.

          • Post Purgatory

He was shot for not complying with instructions to drop the weapon, not for carrying it. Carry laws don’t give you the right to disobey lawful orders.

          • Eric Stevens

It’s actually the definition of stereotyping, and leaning on prejudicial. Racism is the belief that people of one race are BETTER than those of another race, solely because of the racial difference. It’s one of the most inaccurately used words
            throughout our country.

        • tv22

It is interesting that the man was home every day to pick up his son and his daughter was at home sleeping. Doesn’t anyone there work?

          • biznesschic

Because he was picking up his son, moron?

      • Outoftownlawman

LOL..Nice to know you want truth and not speculation. You do know he was shot by a BLACK Officer? So, How was it racially motivated? And, Can you dispute the above facts stated by Marty?

        • IfGunsDontKillThenWhyUseOne

It doesn’t matter who shot him, what matters is that he was shot…. what is being claimed is that he was stereotyped. The issue of the matter is also… why are they trained to shoot to kill? What happened to rubber bullets, a for the leg, stun gun, anything at all…

          • John Cheves

I’ll tell you what. We’ll give you rubber bullets or a stun gun, and YOU get to confront someone who’s high on meth or crack and armed with a 9mm semi-auto, and hope that your rubber bullets stop him before he shoots you in the head. Or, I’d love to see the look on you face when you miss with the tazer, he starts emptying the 9mm magazine on you, and you promptly empty your bowels.

If you survive the ordeal, I suspect even you will understand why it’s shoot to kill, with real bullets.

          • biznesschic

No excuse shooting a black guy, who was within this 2nd amendent rights to own a guy.

          • 4Common_Sense2

Do you know for a fact that he was a law-abiding, legal carrier of a weapon purchased legally? Doesn’t matter what race he was.

          • biznesschic

Dont need a permit in NC.

          • biznesschic

So shoot a black man first, then ask if it is legal later?

          • biznesschic

Did the police question him on those points before they shot him?

          • biznesschic

DID the police ask those questions before they shot him?

          • Andy Lowe

I can believe you just asked “why don’t they carry rubber bullets or shoot the leg? Have you ever been on a Ride Along with a local L.E.O? You really want to know why L.E.O’s don’t carry RUBBER bullets, you try and grab the correct magazine that holds those Rubber ones, or are you going to ask them to give up their real weapon & carry a gun that only shoot fake bullets? Oh damn, I just got called to a domestic, I arrive with my Rubber bullet gun suspect approaches to talk, suspect takes less than 2 seconds to point and shoot both victim and L.E.O even before that L.E.O could clear the holster. Explain that to his / her family why he / she won’t be there for graduation, marriage, new baby all because you didn’t want them to carry the proper weapon to defend the victim or themselves. Now you want to know why the L.E.O’s don’t shoot the leg? Tell me, which is a bigger target to hit – leg or chest, what would the bullet hit if it missed the leg? An innocent little girl in a stroller? Could you live with that, most cops will cry, break down & see a psychologist, some just end up quitting the force. Not only the psychological after effects but then the lawsuit for not killing him, he now walks with a limp, my leg twitches or for the loss of companionship. I’m not saying every L.E.O is perfect or imperfect but it only takes 1 for people to think ALL Police are BAD & they aren’t. Most L.E.O’s could give a rats A$$ what color, race or religion people are, everybody bleeds red, most don’t believe it, go the the ER & look at everyone that’s bleeding.
Everybody wants to believe & say my friend or my relative “insert person” wouldn’t couldn’t isn’t like that or do that. I personally don’t care, that persons actions & record & people they associate with speak for themselves. People are so damn gullible since being introduced to the internet, they believe almost everything they read, pictures seen & almost every single video posted. Now then to those who have worn or still wear the Uniform – Stay strong & Stay safe

          • Rcruz

True, action vs reaction. Different mind set, different game. I agree with your whole post. Common citizens can “shoot to kill” to protect but LEO are expected to use other methods. And as for the “shoot to kill” phrase, it sucks. The proper word of training is “until the threat is stopped.” Take care and be safe out there!

          • Andy Lowe

Over the course of my 28 years, our training has / had changed. Started with the B27 targets then last were trans star Smurf targets, no way possible to link as Race unless the Smurfs show up. Yes the main words have changed but also added – bullet placement counts if said person survives expect a lawsuit & or from said persons relatives.
Any and all training was thoroughly enjoyed also it made a difference. Be safe

          • Post Purgatory

Watch this video to the end. You’ll see why you don’t shoot to wound.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0R5Wqvwo-8

          • Outoftownlawman

Tell you why they shoot to STOP THE THREAT. THIS IS NOT THE FREAKING MOVIES you moron. Shoot someone in the leg? Stun gun to a GUN fight. Rubber Bullets for the most part DO NOT WORK. You need to do MORE research…

        • biznesschic

He was shot by a black officer, who thought a black man should not have a gun, with non permit carry state.

          • John Cheves

No, he was shot because he was so damned stupid that he not only couldn’t follow simple, basic instructions, but he then decided it would be a good idea to get out of the car with a gun. When I was 5 years old, I understood why that was a bad idea. If he, as an adult can’t figure that out, he really does deserve to be shot. How can people like you keep defending idiots and thugs? It makes no sense. Do you guys ever get tired of being wrong?

Time after time, it’s later shown that these idiots provoked the shootings. Cops have every right to minimize the risk to themselves, and there will always be the risk that one of them may screw up. But that’s all the more reason not to provoke them in the first place.

Damned near every time, it’s proven that the initial reports are wrong, and the dumb black shot by the cop brought it on himself. If they had simply followed the cops’ instructions, nearly all, if not all of them, would be alive today. It’s very very simple, if a cop tells you to do something, do it! Argue your case in court. If you really think you are going to come out ahead by confronting a bunch of cops pointing guns at you, you’re an idiot who deserves to be shot.

          • biznesschic

What, a cop without a uniform yells gun, in which he was legally required to have, based on NC law, is now dead, and it is the black guys fault.

          • Michael Perriello

If the undercover did not recognize himself as an officer then he is in it deep.

          • Post Purgatory

They were not in uniform but were wearing vest with POLICE across the chest.

          • Me0801

NC requires CWP. You have to renew every five years.

          • Post Purgatory

Do you honestly think that walking around cops with a gun out is a good idea? Especially after cops have been targeted and killed by several black men recently? He was shot because he didn’t drop the weapon when told to do so.

      • Lory Thibodeaux

Stop complaining! You all got what you wanted. Now you get to destroy your neighborhood and protest for the death of another thug who was probably plaguing your neighborhood. Now you have joined the victims brigade. If I were a cop I wouldn’t go anywhere near these neighborhoods. You all could just fend for yourselves!

        • biznesschic

Yeah, right, all black men are thugs, and should not enjoy the 2nd amendment. Thanks for proving my point.

          • ccliburn

Open carry means your are allowed to have a holstered firearm in public. Open carry does not mean ignore police commands while brandishing a firearm. Your open carry argument is completely invalid.

          • biznesschic

Liar, it doesn’t say holstered or not.

          • ccliburn

Not a literal holster, but it does have to be attached to your body. You cannot walk around with a gun in your hand. There are some exceptions to this in rural areas.

          • biznesschic

So when is literal mentioned in the 2nd amendment? AND you are saying that only guys who live in rural areas, have the right to the second amendment? WHERE is that in the second amendment.

          • ccliburn

What??? I never said any of that.

          • biznesschic

Yes you did, because there is no law in NC for a holstered weapon, in which a black guy would be shot anyway because he “reached” for it.

          • Post Purgatory

Scott had a criminal record in three states. You can’t possess a firearm if you’re a convicted felon (even in open carry states). One of his charges was aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. This is a felony and would have made it illegal to be in possession of a firearm.

          • Post Purgatory

Adam Lanza died. I don’t think he got off. I also think had he not killed his mother, the mother should have been brought up on charges for providing a mentally unstable person unfettered access to guns and actually encouraging his proficiency with them.

    • Whitey Joe Young

work? in oklahome? with energy prices such as they are? hmmm…

    • biznesschic

So a black man was shot for having a gun, in a non permit state, and that is OK with you? Just state that the second amendment don’t apply to black people and be done with it.

  • Robbie Zeigler

As police drew closer to the Scott, he stepped out of the car with the gun pointed towards police and an officer shot him.

Clearly the officers fault. Darwin Award 2016.

    • Titus

Big Robbie was there. He saw it all. He knows. He believes cops because they pat his head while pounding him from behind.

      • Ro – dR

Titus you didn’t call this guy a racist. You’re slipping buddy. I like when only the accounts you control upvote your posts.

        • biznesschic

This guy is a racist. THERE, I said it.

    • Jenny95

Clearly you believe a killers statement.

      • Ro – dR

        Oh Jenny95, how coincidental.

    • allwayzright0306

Source ? If your making it up I hope you burn in hell .

      Thanks in advance 🙂

      • Nai474

Why do people comment without reading the article? Second person to ask for the source. Maybe I got routed to a different discussion chain…

  • Robbie Zeigler

“As police drew closer to the Scott, he stepped out of the car with the gun pointed towards police and an officer shot him.”

Yes BLM street trash…. Clearly the officers fault! Darwin Award 2016.

    • Titus

And of course you believe the officers because they never lie.

      • Ro – dR

Ahh the race baiter from above more trolling? Does CTR pay you, or do you just harass police boards for fun?

      • HikiRegalia

Officers are human just like everyone, and can be prone to bias/preference through life experiences. Let not generalize folks, take the tin foil hats off. There is hardly a white supremacy when China owns most of are debt, and Jews (maternal passing religion with roots to ethnic grousp of people) and Asians (more of a minority than blacks) are the TOP financial earners in this country.

    • Jenny95

Says who? The officer who shot him?

      • Ro – dR

Ahh yeah, not a proxy moron at all.

    • allwayzright0306

Source for this random quote ? Thanks

      • Nai474

The article for all these comments…

  • Kasey Dynneson

stuff like what happened to Terrence Crutcher is an example of police brutality. This, as far as we know, was a justified killing. So why are they protesting this and not the tulsa cop? This stupidity is unreal. If you’er gonna protest, at least choose good cases to protest .

    • Kristen Loomis

Because they don’t protest the things that they should. The preferred protest situation seems to typically be in what you’d call a clean shooting. Philando needed to be protested. The young black man who was run down by a white supremacist and his girlfriend should have been protested. The trend seems to be to cause as much tension as possible by cherry picking the worst incidents to protest.

    • Eddie

For the Terrence Crutcher case. His right arm went down to his waistband in the video taken from the helicopter. You can see the edge of his T-shirt go down on the dash cam but its really hard to tell on dash cam because the one officer got in the way for most of it. I’m not saying that he was armed or gonna go for gun. But as an officer on the ground and dealing with a guy not listening and then him putting his arm down by his waist. You don’t know what it looked like from the eyes of the officer.

      • Jenny95

But he had no gun, so was he committing suicide? The guy’s car was broken down, why were there any orders given?

        • Eddie

Youtube this “Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan described what happened with the officer involved shooting Friday” go to about 1:08, he describes the first call into the police. He states that the caller told dispatch male exited vehicle stating as he exited “It’s going to blow”.

Also after watching a zoomed in version of the Helicopter video it appears his left arm might have gone in the window (Yes the window is down where he can get his arm in).

Also to your comment about the gun. Yes but if your told to stop and you don’t keep your hands up and you reach for your waistband (or inside the car), what are the officers going to think?

What they need to release is the other police vehicles audio. Most officers wear mics on their waistband (thats why you can hear what they are saying in other dashcams) and that footage and audio hasn’t been released. Theoretically if she turned on her lights, and I don’t know why you wouldn’t after stopping your car in the road, it automatically starts recording. UNLESS you manually stop it after it starts. At least thats how the dashcam works in MANY police cars.

Also i would like to state that the chief’s statement is bull about the compiling the video. MSP (Michigan State Police) helicopters can land in a field and give an officer video in that department a copy of the video right then and there. Dash cams on the other hand, they would have to be taken back to the station so it syncs with the system.

          • Jill Hodges Betts

You’re wrong. His right arm dropped after a male officer tazered him and that is when she shot him. He should not have been tazered. I doubt very much that he got out saying it was going to blow.

          • biznesschic

So dropping a right arm gets you shot? Is that really the oppression in which you want to live?

      • EyemNotFree

These perverts walking around with their arms in their pants deserve to be shot.

      • biznesschic

The window was rolled up. So now we shoot people for a dropped armed?

        • ATLien

FIRST mistake is disrespecting the law officer by rolling down your window. I bet they would roll down their window if they felt they were in danger. You are only proving why ignorant people get shot by authority. I guess you have an idea of why these things play out after all…

          • biznesschic

Disrepecting authority is what got 9 million people, in Germany, who are not here anymore. Sorry a cop will not search my house without a cause, and neither will you, just as a cop will not have authority over my legal right to own a fire arm.

          • ATLien

My bad, I missed the part where police had come in his home without a warrant to shoot him. No worries, I don’t want to come to your house and search it. Next time I will read the article more thoroughly so I would have known that simp’s shooting took place in his residence. I have to call him a simp if he allowed armed plainclothes people in his home with no warrant. I, like you, am gonna need a warrant first

          • biznesschic

His car was his home, and the voters in NC decided that all man can carry guns without a permit.

          • ATLien

Oh, here I thought cars were a mode of transportation.

          • biznesschic

It is something owned, in which the police have no right to search, if you are doing nothing wrong.

        • Eddie

Actually it wasn’t all the way rolled up and you can see it before he gets shot when the helicopter is orbiting around.

          • biznesschic

It was rolled up, enough that the guy couldn’t reach for a weapon. Stop trying to justify the killing of a black man.

          • Eddie

False, he could reach for a gun. You can see in the video on the helicopter that his arm went into the vehicle. His race has nothing to do with this.

          • biznesschic

From a closed window? what, now black men can reach through glass?

          • Marge McGlynn

Don’t you think it’s time to end this discussion. You sound like an idiot.

        • HikiRegalia

The cop in that case did not have the mental capacity to serve and made poor judgement. Racism? No. Incompetence? Absolutely. For the past 3 cases, racism has to be be proven as the main motivator/ strong racial bias, not just assumed due to the officer being white.

      • Captain Obvious ✓ᴰᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

        He was also on PCP

        • biznesschic

          so they say?

          • Post Purgatory

Actually no, they don’t say that. They found PCP in his vehicle. Only toxicology will tell us if he was on it or not. That won’t come for awhile. It would explain his behavior though.

        • ATLien

For real? That would certainly put the situation in perspective for me.

    • EyemNotFree

The moron parked his car in the middle of the highway abandoned it then walked around masturbating with his pants around his knees.

  • Katlin Cross

    Good for the officer.

    • Titus

You’d love a lynching now wouldn’t you? When you look in the mirror do you see a ghoul?

      • EyemNotFree

Handicapped baboons cause trouble that is why they are handicapped.

      • Ro – dR

See, you changed this racist rhetoric up. Do you ever find yourself sitting back saying, what am I really doing with my life and how did I end up doing this?

  • budfudlacker

Smh…when are they going to realize that rioting isn’t going to solve their problems? ***shake my head***

et another tragic loss for the “Black community”…Perhaps non-Liberal news outlets should post the daily numbers of Black males murdered by their fellow Black males to really put the ubiquitous ‘Black Lives Matter’ slogan in proper perspective? No other racial or ethnic group in this nation is so thoroughly devoted to killing one another—and yet they dare to hold up signs that read: “BLACK LIVES MATTER”!!!! …apparently black lives don’t matter to blacks, because blacks killing each other is about as routine as it gets, it is almost on a predictable timetable: in cities like Newark, Detroit, Philly Chicago, Atlanta, Cleveland, Oakland, St Louis, DC 99.9% of the annual killings are black on black but very little is said about this appalling state of affairs—no banner headline admonishing blacks to stop killing one-another. The otherwise hyper-vigilant liberal media imposes a gag-order on any informed discussion of black crime and the fratricide that is its signature. Black leaders such as Sharpton won’t touch this issue for obvious reasons: they line their pockets by providing cover and comfort for black crime by blaming it on white culture. The hypocrisy here literally smacks you in the face!!! If we want to play-up the spate of police shootings of black men, let’s open up the dialogue to include the stunned silence on the part of otherwise vocal black leaders like Jackson and Sharpton when it comes to addressing the epidemic criminal-dysfunction associated with black urban culture in America, and the routine buck-passing that invariably accompanies it.

In the decades following the Civil-Rights period, the majority of blacks have not only failed to establish a collective upward mobility, teaching the value of education and hard work, they have deteriorated into an aggressively non-assimilative criminal sub-culture, subsisting on public entitlements, and relentlessly blaming white-culture for their inability to transcend their own economic exile. The question that demands to be asked is to what extent black culture holds itself accountable for its present state, and those broad negative perceptions associated with it????

    • IceTrey

The black community has been systematically destroyed by the War on Drugs started by a white guy named Nixon.

      • Rachel Chappell

Why, because people who use and sell drugs go to jail? I can agree some sentences for drug-related offenses are insane, but then again..it’s a choice to sell drugs or not. When I was born my mother was very poor. She chose to scrub floors and work two jobs rather than break the law for money. It can be done!

        • IceTrey

It’s a choice to jail drug users and sellers.

          • Rachel Chappell

Yes, and no. If there are laws in place, then those who work in law enforcement, from the police to the judge in criminal court have no choice but to uphold said laws.

          • IceTrey

The laws are immoral. If the cops and courts uphold such laws they too are immoral.

          • Rachel Chappell

I worked in a drug treatment center for a bit this year, so if you’re saying addicts need help, I can absolutely agree, however..I was one of few “normies’ on staff (someone who has never been an addict) and everyone there from our clients to my own boss would tell you that they had no desire to seek help until they’d destroyed their lives completely. Jail seems to have been a motivating factor for the vast majority.

          • IceTrey

Those of us who can handle our drugs shouldn’t be punished for those who can’t.

          • Rachel Chappell

Can anyone really handle meth, or crack or heroin for long though, Trey? I have no issue with someone who decides to smoke some pot here or there, or a person who needs pain pills for some condition they have, but I’ve never known of anyone who successfully managed to not OD, die or end up in some bad situation from using hardcore drugs.

          • IceTrey

            That’s their problem.

          • Brennan

When your child is injured or killed by a person driving drunk or high it becomes your problem. But you don’t see that. The dealer that sell bad heroin and the user dies I guess that’s the users problem? The dealer shouldn’t be held accountable?

          • IceTrey

We’re talking overdose deaths. If you want to get rid of bad heroin legalize it.

          • T Massey

Really???? I never OD’ed, died or ended up in a bad situation and I snorted loads of cocaine in my younger days. Never stole to support my habit or screwed anyone over for the same purpose. Just because you dont know of someone doesnt mean a whole lot of them exist. You never hear of these cases because they arent news worthy

          • Rachel Chappell

Snorting coke is a little different than shooting meth or heroin in your veins..just saying.

          • Michael Perriello

You were never in a bad situation using coke? You really think meeting your dealer isn’t a bad situation? Even if somebody else was getting the blow you were absolutely putting yourswlf in a bad place.

          • Mary Freeman

No. You should be punished for breaking the law.

          • IceTrey

            The law is immoral.

          • Mary Freeman

A law banning the sale and use of filth that ruins lives is immoral!? Now I KNOW you’re a troll.

          • IceTrey

Why do you think it’s ok for the government to tell people what they can do with their own bodies? That’s slavery.

          • Mary Freeman

            1. Drug cartels- These thugs enslave their help. They don’t pay them. They also enslave women for their prostitution rings. You fund that. So it isn’t just YOUR body. Is it?

            2. The Gangs- THESE thugs do the same. On our side of the border. And you fund that. So again, it isn’t just YOUR body, is It?

            3. Considering the effects drugs have on the body, and coupling that with the fact that people like yourself are stupid idiots who conduct yourselves as if you were not hopped up, and engage in activities you CERTAINLY should not engage in while hopped up, it is NOT just YOUR body you end up hurting.

Hence, three good reasons the government has the OBLIGATION to protect its citizens from our less intelligent members.

          • IceTrey

            1. Cartels exist because of prohibition.

            2. Gangs exist because of prohibition.

            3. By effects do you mean like cannabis stopping babies from having 300 siezures a day?

Hence, three good reasons the government should end its immoral prohibition.

          • Mary Freeman

If there’s one thing I despise, it’s engaging in a battle of wits with an unarmed man.

          • IceTrey

It’s not wits it’s facts. Prohibition breeds violence. Have you ever heard of Al Capone? Do Coors and Budwieser have running street battles today? What I despise is a lack of commonsense.

          • 4Common_Sense2

            Famous last words….

          • IceTrey

Thst’s my problem. It’s not the government’s business.

          • patriotgamer

Nobody can “handle” drugs. Once the tolerance is built up, more must be taken for the same effect. A human liver can only handle so much for so long before it begins to break down. Even though you might “think” its under control, it isn’t…

          • IceTrey

For one tens of millions use cannabis with no problem. For two a lot of people use hard drugs and you’d never know it. The idea that everyone who uses is a junkie is stupid.

          • T Massey

AMEN….lots of folks talking with no experience other than what they have seen on TV

          • patriotgamer

cannabis is only considered a hardcore drug because the guberment says it is…. and you’re right, people do use hard drugs and most would never know it. I would because there are certain body reactions to drugs that can’t be hidden and won’t diminish due to frequent use. It’s a myth to think drugs can be “handled” by users, even in the middle of OD’s people think they are handling it just fine. It’s only when they lose their drive to breathe do they realize the cant handle it, and by then they are asleep and blue… How many OD’s have you seen? I’m in the hundreds right now so I dare say I would have a better idea… Did you realize that prescribed drugs are the worst? Doc gave it to me, I’ll be ok….

          • Billy

Theres no way you work in treatment with that belief that addicts need to hit rock bottom.

That is one of the biggest myths out there and easily disproven.

          • drewsky89

Clearly you don’t know much about addicts. Many won’t change ways until Rock bottom hits them, it could be jail or losing all friends and family. My brother who used to be an addict and also now works in a clinic to help others will tell you the same thing.

          • Rachel Chappell

Exactly. No one seeks help or realizes they have a severe problem when life is going well and everything is under control. Most of our clients came in following a DUI incident, or jail term or when their teeth fell out due to meth use, etc etc. No one walked in saying “I’m having THE perfect day so I decided it’s time to do something about my addiction.”

          • Michael Perriello

Life is not going well if you are an addict. Even if you have a great job and everything you need to survive the vast majority will absolutely know they have a problem deep down.

          • Rachel Chappell

I’m sure you’re right, and I think it’s a matter of truly being ready to get help. One of my former co workers is doing amazingly well now, but she had to go through rehab nine times before she was finally able to remain clean. It’s why I don’t agree with forced rehab, as when someone is not ready..it’s not going to help them much.

          • Rachel Chappell

Oh really? So addicts telling me they hit bottom in prison and finally sought help doesn’t agree with your narrative?

          • Billy

No, it does support my narrative still. Hitting rock bottom can be a reason an addict gets help, but it is not THE only reason.

          • Michael Perriello

He might work in a treatment facility but you are right….not everyone needs or will hit their rock bottom to seek help. I myself realized I needed help before ever hitting my bottom. And yes I am sure I wasn’t at my rock bottom.

          • Ginny Mobley

not really “rock bottom” is subjective to each person. What they’re willing to lose, to change. When the cost of our behavior becomes too great we change.

          • patriotgamer

Rachel, I feel for the addicts, but what I also realize is that in the beginning, it was their choice. If more people saw the results of irresponsible behavior rather then hiding it in jail or at a treatment facility, people would make better decisions. I work on an ambulance and rush to help when they OD. If people saw what we see, the choice would be easy… and a whole lot cheaper on our nation…

          • Jared Sykes

Are you suggesting we let these dying people roam the streets where they can harm others or themselves, expose even more to drugs, and being their community down with them? Because that seems like a terrible idea to me.

          • patriotgamer

Am I suggesting we let them fend for themselves as an educational lesson for the general public? Why yes, yes I am. When we hide the problem behind closed doors, the general public has NO idea how devastating the problem is. Let them see what they support, then it will stop because they won’t want to do it… let them see the convulsions, let them see the death, let them see the destruction of individuals and I promise you, people will alter their behavior and not participate. When public executions were still allowed the crime rate was microscopic compared to what we have now… think about it…

          • Jared Sykes

So basically you’re saying, because these people made a poor decision maybe once and then got hooked, we should put them on display as a learning opportunity for the public (seems more like as their punishment) and let them die in the streets. If someone decides to have unprotected sex and gets an STD, should they be denied what little help there is and live as an example of what happens when you don’t live a pure life? Forget STDs, what if a woman gets pregnant and knows she can’t support a child at that point in her life? Should she be denied an abortion to live as an example to future parents? When she has that kid she can’t take care of, then she likely turns to drugs or prostitution and we’re back to where we started. Now we’ve added most likely 2 addicts to the community because if all the kid sees is their mother doing drugs all the time what’s stopping the kid from using them too?

          • patriotgamer

yes, yes, and yes. wait was that enough yes’ to answer all those questions? Since we’re talking hypotheticals, if somebody makes a mistake and gets angry and shoots somebody should we make an example out of them and put them to death? oh yeah, I’ll answer that… yes. It works. We have millions of addicts, and only a 1-2 thousand murderers each year. We assist addicts, we deter murders by making an example out of them and putting them all over the news and then ending their life and that works… It’s not compassionate, t’s behavior modification for people who refuse to accept responsibility for their own actions.

          • Netbum

Its already happened, been happening for years.
Theyre called “Homeless”which means theyll never get the help, treatment they really need because the do gooder scamsters want to keep the money game going.
Its mostly mentally ill and addicts NOT HOMELESS per se that is the problem.
            So the cycle continues.

          • Netbum

And now California in its infinite wisdom has removed that tool for drug abusers thanks to Jerry Brown and prop 47.
And because of the changes, crime, which was dropping for DECADES has started rising again.
But the fanatics wont admit its because of prop 47

          • Jimbo

This topic concerns a cop (black) shooting someone (black) after he drew down on the cop.

          • hopeful8

It’s a choice to break the law. It’s a choice to carry a gun. It’s a choice to walk toward police officers with a gun. It’s a choice to not comply.

          • IceTrey

Are you kidding? There are so many laws now that every one of us commits three felonies every day. You have no idea what happened in this case.

          • workingstiffdad

YES… A really good choice. If their drugs are deadly, then the death penalty for murder should be carried out. Swiftly.

          • IceTrey

So everyone who works in the pharmaceutical industry should be killed because most drug deaths are from prescription drugs?

          • Allacra

So people who sell drugs that end up hurting others should be able to do as they please? People who sell drugs to a kid? It’s the kid’s choice to buy drugs, isn’t it? 🙁

          • IceTrey

More people die from prescription drugs than coke, meth and heroin combined.

          • blake1771

Ha ha ha. What a dumb argument. Far more people use/take prescription drugs than use illegal drugs. So OF COURSE there are more deaths from Rx drugs.

Estimates suggest 70% of Americans take Rx drugs. 318 million people x .70=222,600,000

Estimates suggest 9.4% of Americans have used an illegal drug in the past month. 318 million people x .094=29,892,000

So there are roughy 192 MILLION more Rx drug users.

There are approx 25,000 Rx overdoses each year so if you take Rx drugs you have about a 0.01 of overdose death

There are approx 17,000 illegal drug overdoses each year so if you take illegal drugs you have about a 0.05% chance of overdose death.

The reality is neither is over all that high when compared to the total number of users.
But still the fact remains using illegal drugs is more likely to result in death vs taking prescription drugs. Fact.

          • IceTrey

Is .05% worth the cost in money and police violence and throwing millions in jail for drugs?

          • blake1771

Personally I think ALL drugs should be legal because I don’t think it’s the governments business.

But you used a bullshit figure to advance your argument.

          • IceTrey

            You confirmed it.

        • Bella Limonata

Rachel, the decision to sell drugs isn’t always voluntary. Go to any housing project in East New York and you’ll find 30 year old men telling horror stories of how the drug dealers used to grab them on their way to school when they were ten, eleven, twelve years old and have them stand out on the corner holding contraband because the police couldn’t put juveniles in jail. The kids who tried to run or told their parents had to look over their shoulders and would sooner or later be caught and beaten, burned, maybe even shot. Tell the boy who was forced out of school at age 10 and terrorized into selling drugs by a guy who was terrorized into selling drugs by someone else that he’s made a choice. The only thing he’s ever learned to do is sell drugs. This is not just a few incidences either, it’s an epidemic. These people can barely read or write but they can break down a kilo of heroin in a week.

          • KXANSUX

and yet they keep voting democrat every four years. How has that worked out for them?

          • biznesschic

Because republicans want to deny my 2nd amendement rights and keep me from voting

          • Andy Rogers

The 2nd amendment is the right to bear arms…. It’s pretty much a conservative issue! Are you saying the DEMOCRATS are for this? Are you INSANE? How, exactly, are the republicans trying to keep you from voting? are you an illegal alien? If so, you have NO RIGHT to vote anyway!

          • ASK26

Agreed I commented too his BS

            Bull sh—-.

Not Republicans. I bet you cannot identify one
citizen denied their legal right to vote . there is a woman who was
beaten and jailed for voting for a Republican for president – she was
beaten -being told this is what you get for voting for ******

            Covered in bruises

          • ASK26

            Bull sh—-.

Not Republicans. I bet you cannot identify one citizen denied their legal right to vote . there is a woman who was beaten and jailed for voting for a Republican for president – she was beaten -being told this is what you get for voting for ******

          • KXANSUX

            and how is that?

          • Alex Hader

lol WTF? yeah right it’s the republicans who are conservatives mostly who uphold the 2nd amendment that just goes to show you how brainwashed these dems are on their CNN media or worse bias news media.

          • Bella Limonata

Republican or Democrat doesn’t make a difference. We all (the 99%) need to realize that giving more power and wealth to the already wealthy and powerful, regardless of their political affiliation, is not going to make a difference for any of us.

          • John

Bella Limonata, everyone has a choice and the inner cities continually chose NOT to fight back. It’s their choice.

        • UmmNo

No, because the War on Drugs targets black communities. If the police were to walk down Wall Street and search people like they were in the ghettos, they would find just as many illegal drugs. Your mother was able to find two jobs. A lot of people in the black community can’t find one. It can be done, but it isn’t as easy as you want to pretend it is. The people being arrested for selling and dealing are not making a lot of money, but they are paying a huge price when they get arrested.

          • Rachel

All the weak excuses only enable the bad behavior. You think it helps? It holds people down and convinces them they can’t do better. Cops go where the crime is, so if you see them in poor neighborhoods more often than on Wall Street, that could be because there tend to be less shootings and gang violence on Wall Street.

      • icryformycountry

I would say it has been destroyed by the “war on poverty”….so let’s get rid of all public assistance and get the black man back into the family unit

        • IceTrey

          Sure.

      • JOESWANSON

they have been systematically destroyed by themselves fuck you mean

      • BostonLiberty

LBJ started the systematic destruction of the Black Family Unit well before Nixon got started…

        • biznesschic

So tell me how white people managed to get a pedophile who served as speaker of the house for 15 years?

      • hwy505

The black community destroys itself – dopey.

        • biznesschic

I live in a “black” community that you can’t afford to live in loser.

        • IceTrey

Have you not read the DOJ report on the Ferguson Police?

      • Jimbo

Well, no. The war on drugs is a war on drugs. Both white used drugs and and black drugs.

        • IceTrey

Right and even though whites use drugs at the same or greater rate than blacks the majority of arrests have landed on blacks. Cops don’t go to Beverly Hills to arrest coke heads they go to Compton.

          • ATLien

They go where the weight is, usually. More dope, more dollaz. Plain & simple.

          • IceTrey

Do you think the kingpins of the drug trade live in Compton?

          • ATLien

HELL NAW! The kingpins have mules tunneling from Mexico right now. On its way to disperse in middle class neighborhoodds. The problem with the inner city middlemen is that they flaunt it. That puts them under surveillance and puts a target on their backs.

      • John Grey

The law says drugs are illegal. What is it that you can’t understand? You do something illegal, you are committing a crime; you go to jail. And if you know you will be arrested, why commit the crime?

        • IceTrey

          Tell that to Hillary.

      • Zodiac Tiger

Are you trying to say the War On Drugs was some shadowy conspiracy that purposely targeted blacks?

      • 18th street

You are a total IDIOT. Go back to school and get a high school diploma.

        • IceTrey

          That doesn’t refute my statement.

      • Michael Neave

Actually the war on drugs started with Democrat President Wilson and the 1919 Pharmaceutical Act. Nixon termed it the “War on drugs” when black leaders compelled his administration to get drugs out of black neighborhoods. Every president since then has used the term.

      • Outoftownlawman

Here is a couple ideas….1. Drugs are still Illegal. 2. STOP BREAKING THE LAW..SImple you moron…

        • IceTrey

Helping slaves gain their freedom was once illegal. Do you think people shouldn’t have broken that law?

      • Loretta Terry

There is consequences for all actions you chose to do. You break the law you pay the price regardless of who you are or where you are from. When you commit a crime it’s because you chose to break that law, nobody forces you to do anything,if you allow some to force you then you deserve what you get for not thinking for yourself.

        • IceTrey

“You break the law you pay the price regardless of who you are or where you are from.”
          Tell that to Hillary.

Drug laws are immoral. No one has the right to tell another what to do with their own body. That’s called slavery. Why do you want to be a slave to the government?

          • Loretta Terry

Sweetie we do tell that to killer Hillary and the Government. As far as drugs go IMHO weed should be nationally legalized, and the other drugs…the laws need to be thrown out and redone. The law isn’t to stop you from using it’s to stop people from pushing that shit on our children. These very powerful drugs as in Opana’s and heroine is killing our kids. The very kids that are supposed to be our future. Children live what they learn.

          • IceTrey

Millions have been jailed for using. If you don’t want pushers legalize everything. If your kids use drugs that’s your problem. Why should I be punished because of your kids?

          • Loretta Terry

Yes they have been jailed for just using which is part of the laws that need to change, but we can’t hold parents responsible for what the streets and society are pushing on our children,I put the blame on the Government and the school systems.I’m not sure how old you are sweetie but when we were growing up we didn’t have the Government telling them how to raise or discipline us,we didn’t have video games and computers raising us. We got our asses busted, and were taught right from wrong. We had summer jobs to work so we could learn work ethics, earn our own money while learning skills.Kids these days look at you like your stupid when you tell them to do something as simple as take the trash out or they go completely hysterical when you tell them to do something that takes away their fooling around time. We all want change sweetie but the change has to start at home,we can’t fix anything on the outside until we fix the inside. The Government has way too much control and it’s time to take it back from them.

    • Chris m

Why do blacks kill ourselves; since you want to use racist undertone in your post. Yes black people kill each other.
Black people also live in abject poverty. Our jobs don’t pay so we’re forced to either live in poverty or do illegal activities to live. Once we get locked up by you(the police), we are considered sub-humans without rights because of felonies.

I have no sympathy for the police. Because of my skin color, im at risk of being shot at any given moment. Can you imagine what it’s like to distrust the people tasked with protecting you. I’ve never been to jail and I work in corporate america. So when the racist(s) respond to this post saying something about this post which is racist, even though i’m putting this statement in here, Hopefully it’ll show you guys here at BLM the injustice we receive from everyone.

Also, I support Blue Lives Matter. I think All Lives Matter. People make mistakes including cops. the difference is. A black person makes a mistake and they get a felony or worse. A cop makes a mistake and man/woman/child is dead. No one deserves to live in this authoritarian police state where cops are immune from the same treatment we as black people receive.

Why do we continuously lock people up without asking this one simple question. Is Prison working: Is it stopping people from committing crimes – NO, does it help people transition back to normal society – NO, does it contribute to creating career criminals – yes. So, WHY, WHY, WHY, are so many black, white, latino, etc people in prison. Why does America have more (people) in prison than the next 7 counties combined including China – which has 6 1/2 times more people than US.

Prison does nothing but provide slave labor for the wealthy. If we solve the issues of Poverty, criminal justice reform, and actually help people who make mistakes overcome their issues and stop causing the environment for criminals to thrive. Black and blue lives could live peacefully.

      • budfudlacker

Oh, so you think life dealing groups of people bad hands is exclusive to blacks? Shocker. You’re playing victim….never saw that one coming.

I can take you to dozens of neighborhoods around where I live filled with whites living in abject poverty. They’ve been waiting years for their “white privilege” ship to sail, but she just ain’t moving, so forgive me if I don’t feel sorry for you. Black doctors, lawyers, a (half) black president….how in the world did they slip through the cracks if the mean ol’ white man is systemically oppressing minorities? Your attitude is a hive-minded excuse your ilk uses to try and get special treatment, NOT equality.

        • Chris m

Thats the point all people are dealing with injustices. Division is not going to solve these issues and insulting people isn’t either. How about you be the solution instead of spreading racist comments online.

          • budfudlacker

You yourself said you have no sympathy for police. Do you think that’s helping things? You think they’re just going around shooting people for fun, particularly black men? Nevermind more whites are killed annually by police. Your skin color doesn’t put you at any more risk of being shot by police, but your attitude toward them certainly does.

      • biznesschic

So whites don’t kill other whites?

        • Andy Rogers

Not NEARLY on the same scale! NO.

          • biznesschic

YES they do, about 89 percent.

          • Post Purgatory

89% of whites kill each other? LOL.

          • American GunNut

It scares me that you apparently served in our military. Are you aware of a term known as “per capita?” Probably, but is your brain even capable of understanding what “per capita” is, how it works, and why it’s necessary? Do you have the mental faculties to understand how and why statistics need to be compared on a per capita basis?

There are 5.75 times more white people than black people in the US. Thus, we cannot simply say, in an honest, logical comparisons of blacks and whites, that “There are more whites on welfare than blacks!” Of course we cannot say that, as the white population is 575% larger than the black population.

We can assume that statistically, not accounting for other factors, and without using a per capita basis, that whites should have a 575% rate higher than blacks in any statistical category. There should be 5.75x as many whites on welfare as blacks. There should be 5.75x the numbers of murders committed by whites compared to blacks. You following?

So, to compare two different populations of different numbers, we have to compare them in like numbers, otherwise the comparisons are meaningless. For example,if a city has a population of 3,000,000 white people, and 20 Asian people, you CANNOT honestly compare the number of crimes committed by each race, because the population of each are so different. You must compare on a per capita basis.

This is why we need to compare on a per capita basis, as in “For every million black people, how many commit murder? For every million white people, how many commit murder?”

Here are the sad, disturbing facts when we consider the populations equally, on a per capita basis. The figures are from the 2013 FBI Crime Report, per every 1,000,000 residents of each race:

10.22 whites are killed by whites.
9.83 whites are killed by blacks.

Do you see that??? Blacks kill almost as many whites each year as whites kill whites. Remember, there are 5.75 times more whites than blacks. That means whites should be killing other whites at a rate of 56.5 white on white murders per year.

Do you follow? Blacks kill almost as many whites, in actual numbers, as whites kill whites. The black population is significantly less than the white, yet they kill whites at the virtually the same rate as whites kill whites.

Now, let’s get to black murders, again per capita, that is, murders of blacks per 1,000,000 black people per year:

53.94 blacks are killed by blacks.
0.77 blacks are killed by whites.

Do you comprehend? White on black murder is virtually nonexistent. Less than 1 black per million is killed by a white per year. Yet blacks kill other blacks at a rate of nearly 54 per year out of every million.

Do you see the comparison? Can your brain understand? For every 1,000,000 white people, whites will kill 10 white people per year. For every 1,000,000 black people, blacks will kill 54 black people per year.

The black on black murder rate is over 500% higher than the white on white murder rate.

And blacks kill whites at an astronomically higher rate than whites kill blacks. The black on white murder rate is 1,276% higher than than white on black murder rate.

There is an ingrained problem in your people. There is a festering sickness in your community. No matter how much you cry about whites committing more murders, whites keeping you down, whites doing this and that, the problem is in YOUR community, with YOUR people. Is it learned behavior? Is it genetic? You definitely cannot chalk it up to discrimination and slavery. You cannot claim it’s racism, as blacks are undisputably the most racist people in the country.

The statistics are there. Look t them. There is a bright spot, however. When you take a look at ALL crimes committed on a per capita badis, there is ONE that black people aren’t committing at higher rates than every other race in the nation: drunk driving. White people own that. But for everything else (sexual abuse of minors, murder, drugs, assaults, rapes)? Black people commit WAY more than their populations’ statistical share.

Go ahead, read the FBI crime reports. They’re accurate (and no, the government is not making fake statistics. Otherwise, the government would publicize how dangerous black people really are, but we only ever hear about the very rare white on black crime). The government has no benefit in showing the white populace just how violent and criminal the black community is, because then the white people might become informed enough to actually do something abut it, and race relations would get far, far worse than they are.

SO —— FIX YOUR COMMUNITY. Stop blaming everyone else but yourselves. Your main problem is YOU. Your people are violent and criminal when compared to every other race. They commit crimes against other races at staggeringly higher numbers than crimes are committed against them by other races.

STOP MAKING EXCUSES AND PERPETUATING YOUR LIES THAT FEED YOUR COMMUNITY’S RAGE.

            “Hands up, don’t shoot” lies.
“He was reading a book” lies.
“He was just a little boy with Skittles and soda” lies.
“He had his hands up and was complying and his car was broken down” lies.

Stop the lying, and fix your screwed-up society. I used to judge blacks by the content of their character, believe they should be treated equally, but I am sick to death of you people making excuses for your criminals, and lying about the circumstances on the rare occasions when other races kill one of yours, and assigning blame to everyone but yourselves. FIX. YOURSELVES. NOW. Get educated. Improve yourselves. Dozens of other marginalized people have come to the US in horrendous unfair circumstances and have become successful and contributory. And all those groups came AFTER your people. So get on the ball, solve your problems, raise your kids right, teach them how to speak. And your problems and sick, festering community will soon improve. You are only making it worse for yourselves, so FIX IT. Unless, of course, your population is genetically unable to curtail your general widespread violent and criminal behaviors, and lack of education? Maybe that’s it. Maybe your population is just genetically inferior. That would explain your problems, not just with your race in the US, but around the entire world. But you seem to think you’re so smart, so successful, so superior to others in here, THEN PROVE IT. Make your community a better place. Virtually no one else in your community is.

      • ASK26

I am only addressing one part of your posting.

Yes it sucks to not be able to trust cops and the “legal” system. i know – even though I am a white woman.
Great friend – has been subjected to years of abuses -. in one case after being order to go to police station to make a statement – regarding police misconduct – she was arrested FOR TRESPASS at the very place she was ORDERED TO BE. This led to 9 years of hell and every type of legal abuse imaginable.
She and has been essentially pure her whole life: no drugs never stole anything, attend and volunteer at church and other charities, never any criminal activity, worked from before her 16th birthday and put herself through college – first person in her family to go/grad. (she later worked with LEOs including feds)

My point is that it does not ONLY happen to blacks/black males. Excusing your own criminal behavior because of someone else’s criminal behavior is not a legit excuse.

Plus RIOTING is not the same as Protesting
        .

      • Post Purgatory

Prison is working for me. I’ve never been there and don’t want to go. I grew up very poor and had very few options when I left high school and home. I chose to join the army because it would teach me a skill and give me money for college. I spent 4 years in the Army, got out, went to college and am now an Engineer making a great salary.

The only people limiting blacks are themselves.

    • 4Common_Sense2

Well stated, and excellent question. Black pastors have advocated that the demise of the traditional family unit and preponderance of single mothers has been a huge factor. Community initiatives such as Big Brothers, Boys to Men Mentoring, Power of Peace Project, Solutions for Change (the last 3 have recently received wide exposure from Mike Slater on AM 760 – this is a short video clip which was made in response to the Colin Kapernick media-fest, but very worthwhile to hear: https://www.facebook.com/760kfmb/videos/1343809068963385/?pnref=story) and these programs have been very successful in counter-acting this widespread issue – but participants need to be motivated to join and, more importantly, stick with it.

      • biznesschic

Oh please, me being black have a right to carry, and you don’t want me to have the same rights as you, tell the truth.

        • Post Purgatory

Having a right to carry doesn’t mean you get to have a gun whenever and wherever you want. Holding a carry permit actually holds you to a much higher standard than not having one.

        • ATLien

PURE FOOLISHNESS. If you want to legally exercise your right to arm yourself, by all means. Let’s just be responsible with our weapons & keep them away from criminals, children and refrain from brandishing them at the police, thanks

    • biznesschic

When is Blue lives matter, going to realize that black men have 2nd amendment rights also. Why were they going after a black man who had a legal right to carry in NC?

      • Me0801

If he were legally carrying he would have known to keep the firearm in his vehicle and as the officer approached told them that he was a CWP holder and told them where his firearm was located. Also, produce the CWP to the officer. You learn this when you go through the course. Safety is always number one when you are carrying.

    • Teri Amerson-Granger

You are no expert on the Black Community and much of what you stated is NOT fact! You think that just because the media shows you ghettos and poor Blacks that all of us are. I am willing to bet I live in a better area than you, along with a bigger house and better vehicle. Here is some statistics that you can actually look up: Black women are the MOST educated of ALL educated females, and we have the most start up businesses. White Supremacy has stifled our men, but allowed us to succeed because they thought we would run to them. LOL! It is just a matter of time before White Supremacists become the minority, and look out! We already have one black female billionaire, if you pay close attention look at the black female millionaires. Slowly but surely…

As for black-on-black crime, look in your own backyard. Statistically Whites outnumber us. Most crimes committed by those on those in close proximity to them. So while the “media” is busy “showing” you our crime, a lot of white crime isn’t reported as often. White -on white crime is higher, just like there are more whites on welfare. IJS!

Two New Jersey police officers were found guilty of tampering and other official misconduct Thursday in a June 2012 traffic stop on the Garden State Parkway.

Essex County prosecutors said dashcam video disproved Bloomfield officers Sean Courter and Orlando Trinidad’s claims that Marcus Jeter tried to grab Courter’s gun and hit Trinidad. The footage shows Jeter holding his hands up in his car and yelling out “I did nothing wrong!” as officers pull him out of an SUV and cuff him.

            […]

A jury convicted them of official misconduct, conspiracy to commit official misconduct, tampering with public records, falsifying public records and false swearing. Jurors also convicted Trinidad of simple assault rather than his original aggravated assault charge, NJ.com. The Bloomfield Police Department had suspended both Trinidad and Courter without pay for over two years.

haha it’s always back to ‘logic’ and ‘rationale’ but what’s yours when responding to a joke? calm down and realize that this man was walking backwards slowly with his hands at his sides (you can clearly see this) surrounded by officers on what appears to be all sides when he was shot. i don’t know about you but unless he’s a wyatt earp type i can’t imagine he couldn’t have been taken down by a taser or rubber bullet or anything besides being firing quickly. They were informed he had a ‘TBI’ numerous times and even the police chief has said the video does not provide “definitive visual evidence” that Scott pointed a gun at officers. So where is the logic and rationale in that?

What does that case have to do with this one? Nothing. By posting that article, you are saying all cops are bad so therefore all black people are bad. I can post hundreds of articles where some black guy shot and killed another black guy. Shoot at this point, I can post thousands of them.

          • WeAllWin

Nope, that isn’t what I said. More often than not, cops get away with crimes. That black motorist would be in prison and those cops on the street, if not for the dashcam. Instead, that black guy is on the street and those ????cops???? are in state prison until late 2020. I could post tons of other stories on crimes committed by police, both where the ????cops???? got away with their crimes and select where the ????cops???? are charged and/or in prison.

Greetings. I would use like to make a note that under North Carolina law, anyone (with some exclusions of course) is able to carry a concealed weapon. (Please refer to N.C. Gen. Stat. Ann. § 14-415.12 if you are unfamiliar with the law.) So when stating that the police have “recovered” a fire arm, please be careful not to indicate that this is a crime. I am sure some of you have guns at home. If you were walking around minding your business in a state where the people have chosen such laws, and it is still seen as criminal, I’m sure you would think that there may be an issue.

In order to ensure the legitimacy of this website and not attract the type of commentators I’m seeing, please try to report as objectively as possible. I know you are advocating for law enforcement but you must acknowledge that we are all humans and we all make mistakes.

Lastly, as someone who is highly educated in American history, we must be careful when we speak about the history of the military. Us scholars will tell you to take a second look at your history books and complete further research before speaking about how the military has advocated for the rights of others. Throughout the history of the America, there have been many injustices towards minorities who have served in the military. I am not going to be a substitute for you reading a history book, but I would advise you to start with the history of the GI bill and work your way back if you are truly interested in being enlightened about this history.

Once WE ALL learn about the mistakes of the past, we can move into a brighter future.

1 John 3:17-18 says “But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

    God Bless.

Oh, YES, EVEN BY Officers of YOUR same race. So, How exactly is this racist? It is not, It is the lack of ability to follow directions. Do what you are asked, and you get to go home or jail. Which ever is the case.

          • biznesschic

SO you see a gun on a black guy, then shoot him, goes against NC law, when it is legal to have a gun without a permit, right? Where is the coverage of a white guy in NC being shot by the police?

          • biznesschic

The black police officer didn’t say that he pointed a gun, but just saw a gun, in which he was legally within his rights. The black officer was in plain clothes? The poor guy thought that he was being robbed.

          • Rachel Chappell

I’m happy to google that, as the articles I’ve read spoke of a weapon being pointed. I’ll give it a look.

          • ATLien

Uh, YES. As long as you’re not a convicted felon. Which by the way, he was, 3 times over…

    • IfGunsDontKillThenWhyUseOne

You clearly are misinformed on the definition of racism. What is being claimed is that he was stereotyped for being black… and if he was holding a weapon… he’s allowed to in NC… and he was murdered…

If he was murdered for being “a black guy with a gun” then that is the definition of racism. It doesn’t matter who shot him.

There is no way to prove that if he was white then the scenario would have played out differently… but that is why we debate, to evolve our way of thinking and to attempt to come closer to let individuals live their lives without fear of being shot and killed by police officers for a crime they didn’t commit. (And I say “and killed” because that is what is so often happening… why not shot in the leg, rubber bullets, taser, etc)

      • Nai474

I’ll look up the statute for NC’s gun law but it most likely states carry…somebody earlier stated “concealed”… in hand is is holding or presenting.

Who moves toward a police officer with gun in hand?

        • biznesschic

So how do you conceal a shot gun, which is allowed to open carry in NC?

          • Nai474

            Explain which…
Shotguns or long rifles most likely require to be slung, meaning hand away from trigger.
A pistol in hand is in use. Didn’t realize he was carrying a shotgun or was it anow AK47.
How do you know if he legally possessed the gun? I don’t know one way or another.

          • biznesschic

BUT not concealed, right liar? THERE is not a law that your weapon can not be seen, liar, and the police shot the black man before the questioned the black man if his gun is legal or not.

          • Nai474

If you look at my first response… I said somebody earlier stated it had to be concealed… I didn’t lie about that…
There is a law in NC that you can carry with the gun concealed… I can sure send you that law because that’s all I get in response for my search for a definition of “OPEN CARRY”
If he was being arrested for a warrant… the police knew his criminal history and would know if he could legally own/carry a handgun
Was cordial until you wanted to start with the “liar” statements.
Should I call you a liar for stating there is no law to carry concealed or just “ignorant”? Your choice

  • Baskar Guha

Very simple solutions — African Americans go back to Africa, Euro Americans go back to Europe, Asian Americans back to Asia, and Hispanic Americans back to Central and South America …. until just the Native Americans are left to get back what they always had.

  • Dan Gwinn

    Recovered = Planted

  • biznesschic

You do know that NC is an open carry state, with no permit needed to carry a gun? Black men are not afforded the 2nd amendment.

    • 3dgrunge

Do you know what open carry means? It does not make it legal to carry any weapon you want in your hand in public and point it at people.

      • biznesschic

So a black man can’t point a weapon, at a policeman who is not wearing a uniform.

  • Jim Stone

    Somebody better call animal control

    • biznesschic

Blues Lives Matter, nor the NRA, came out to support a legal gun owner, Philando Castle, a hard working black guy who worked with children SHOT by a cop, because he told them he was a legal gun owner. Face up to the problem, the 2nd amendment is only meant for white guys.

      • Jim Stone

Well actually my son in law is an Black Guy and he has no problem here in Louisiana he has an weapon on him at all times he has been for about 10 years

        • biznesschic

I have roots in New Orleans, as my mother was born there, and I have a ZILLION cousins still there. New Orleans is different from the rest of the world, as blacks and whites have lived next to one another for 200 years.

  • Jim Stone

Well showing my true colors, bet on the facts mr Scott illeagaly in possession of the firearm

    • biznesschic

Tell me why a black guy who may/ or may not have a gun, gets shot in a open carry state, with no permit requirement?

      • Jim Stone

Could be felon gun could be stolen either way mr Scott didn’t won’t the cops talking to him with that gun

        • biznesschic

DID they know that when they shot the guy? Black men have the right to carry in an open carry state with no permit. If you want to maintain that right, you can’t shoot every black man carrying a gun. The officer was not in uniform, how did he know the guy was a cop?

          • Jim Stone

I agree with what you say that ,folks all colors can carry in an open carry state like here in Louisiana but maybe when ones see the police that it might not be a good idea to get out of the car with gun in hand, example my whole adult family are all CCW PERMIT holders and we were taught to not walk up or carry said firearm without notifying an police officer IMMEDIATELY UPON SEE THE POLICE OFFICER and to never get out of an automobile b/c the police officer could mistake this as aggressive behavior,,what I’m trying to say is IF YOU WONT TO CARRY AN FIREARM USE COMMON SENCE OR GET SOME TRAINING

          • biznesschic

The police was in plain clothes, he sees a gun and shoots him. Please explain?

          • Jim Stone

When the police go to serve warrents they ALLWAYS have uniformed officers with them to stop someone from saying just what you are saying

          • biznesschic

THEN again, why shoot a guy in an open carry state with no permit requirements, and you are in plain clothes, answer the question.

          • Jim Stone

Answer do you know for sure there were no uniformed cops standing right beside the plain clothes officer

          • biznesschic

No he wasn’t, what is the point of plain clothes, if you are with police in uniform. Bottom line, if black men can not legally carry, in a state that has no permit requirements, without getting shot for having a gun, white men should not have that right either.

          • Jim Stone

I gotta go work but I’m glad to get to debate with you in a civil tone thank you and I will answer you when I can. Thanks have a great day

          • biznesschic

Right, shoot the black guy in a state with no permit requirements, then ask questions later.

          • 3dgrunge

            Open carry requires a holster.

          • biznesschic

No it does not, recite NC law.

          • 3dgrunge

The man who exited his vehicle with gun in hand and not secured pointed it towards the police. Stop being a racist.

          • biznesschic

May be a cop approached him armed and in plain clothes?

          • 3dgrunge

Not legal to have your pistol in your hand in public in open carry states bub. It must be holstered securely and visible.

The BLACK cop that shot the man saw an armed person exit the vehicle waving his pistol in the direction of the police. Grow the fuck up you racist fuck.

          • biznesschic

It is legal, site the NC law that say it is not.

      • ATLien

NONCOMPLIANCE, look it up if you’re unsure what it means. Do what is asked of you & noone gets hurt. The police have the job of protecting our communities so if you don’t want to comply then you have to be prepared to accept the consequences.

        • biznesschic

Non compliance? Says the cops who illegally shot a black man with a legal right to carry. Tell a man to drop a gun, and shoot him a second later?

          • ATLien

How about not coming out of your car, excuse me, house with a gun in your hand in the first place? What kind of upstanding father of 7 owns a car & a gun before they have a stable roof over their head? Priorities, please. You have done your part in making him look like he was a real pillar of society. I smell another multi million dollar lawsuit for a man that wasn’t worth a penny. GTFOH

          • biznesschic

It is perfectly legal. The cops admitted they were not looking for this guy, he had every right to come out of his car with gun in hand, as stated in NC law regardless if he owned a house or not.

          • ATLien

HE HAD EVERY RIGHT TO COME OUT OF THE CAR WITH A GUN IN HIS HAND? Just wow, I knew you were a racist & bigot but now it’s clear that you’re frontal lobe is underdeveloped as well so my guess is I am dealing with a teenager here. My children are grown so there is no response required.

      • 3dgrunge

Well one his gun was not in a holster it was in his hand. That is not legal even in an open carry state bub.

        • biznesschic

Site the NC LAW that says it is not. HOW do you holster per say, a shot gun?

  • Amber Zito

No gun was recovered. Stop spreading lies.

    • biznesschic

They said it, however, NC is a state where you don’t need a permit to carry, unless you are black, they shoot you asking questions later.

  • biznesschic

Blue lives matter, just say that black men are not afforded the rights under the second amendment. IF a black man wants to enjoy his rights under the 2nd amendment, we are going to shoot him first, and lie about it later.

  • biznesschic

Cant wait for a state that has an open carry law with no permit, can’t find the dead guy’s DNA on the gun, and trace it back to the police lock up.

    • 3dgrunge

So not only do you not understand what open carry means you are assuming the big bad boogy men planted the gun on the idiot who was pointing a gun at the police. WOuld love to see how they planted the gun on the living man before he pointed it at them.

      • biznesschic

No, what I am mean is that you should not shoot a black man with a gun, according to the voters of NC, who said it was OK to not have a permit for a gun.

  • Coach

I wish you all could just stop policing these areas. Just let them burn

  • biznesschic

God forbid if you brave men in blue orders me to turn left, and I turned right, or I cover my hands over my mouth while I cough and you shoot me for “non compliance”. You signed up to protect my rights as a citizen, not go home to your spouses, risking my civil rights.

    • 3dgrunge

      Go home racist.

  • not important

So he wasn’t so innocent after all it turned out he did have a gun these people wonder why they get shot when they don’t follow the orders of the police and when they act like animals what do they expect

    • biznesschic

DID you know that NC is an open carry state, and no permit is required? So now black males are not afforded 2nd amendment rights? Yeah, that is what you meant to say.

      • 3dgrunge

Do you know what open carry means? Did you know that you are required to have a holster to open carry legally? Did you know that waving your gun around in your hand is not legal even in open carry states?

Did you know you are an idiot?

        • biznesschic

You are not required to holster a gun. That is what you say when black people are allowed to carry guns.

          • ATLien

All 4 cops were wearing vests with POLICE written across them but it’s hard to see when you’re on that PCP.

      • ccliburn

Why does everyone keep bringing up this open carry nonsense? There’s a HUGE difference between being in public with a gun on your hip, and holding a gun in your hand while disobeying police commands. Open carry does not translate to being non-compliant while brandishing a firearm. The open carry argument is completely irrelevant in this case.

        • biznesschic

What law in NC, that says you can be shot for having a legal gun in your hand?

          • ccliburn

So you believe that as long as your firearm is legally owned, you can do whatever you want with it? Officers have a right to defend themselves against a threat; and a person not complying with officers while holding a gun in their hand is definitely considered a valid threat. Oh, but the gun is legal so his actions are irrelevant? Sorry, your open carry argument is invalid.

          • biznesschic

No it is legally own because of the constitution, and I should not be shot over it.

          • ccliburn

You should, and will be shot over it if you brandish it irresponsibly while not complying with officers.

          • biznesschic

The cop was in plain clothes. How did he know he wasn’t being robbed?

          • ccliburn

The undercover was wearing a CMPD vest and was surrounded by uniformed officers as well, along with their squad cars. He knew damn well it was the police. You’re reaching now.

          • biznesschic

CMPD vest, so why the plain clothes?

          • Nai474

U mean exiting a vehicle about to be placed under arrest with a gun in hand?

That’s the statement… u may not believe it… but that’s the statement. Reports of multiple witnesses having heard the officer (s) shout drop the gun.

Law most likely states in holster on hip… not in hand.
In hand in public is in use not carrying or possessing

  • not important

They show these people throwing rocks and bottles at the cops that you’re jumping up and down and trying to turn over police cars acting like complete animals and they wonder why they get shot it’s not a race thing it’s the fact that these thugs want to act like total animals the cops have to be out there risking their own lives I don’t blame the cops for shooting thugs someone points a gun at you what are you going to do you’re going to do whatever it takes to protect yourself the cops are just doing the same thing

    • biznesschic

YOU should be throwing rocks also, because NC is non requirement state to own fire arms, and protect this guy’s 2nd amendments rights? Oh, I forgot, the second amendment doesn’t apply to black people.

    • biznesschic

You signed up to protect the civil rights of all, not just white people. If you can’t perform that duty, find a job at Wallmart.

  • dpcpd

I guess open carry only applies to certain people. Feel threatened? Just kill the guy. Is that what they teach in police academies now? Hell, don’t need cops for that. It’s now legal to kill someone if you’re feeling scared. (Just make sure you carry an extra gun around, just in case, wink wink)

    • biznesschic

Right. Blue lives matters even try to smear Philando Castle, a legal gun owner who worked 12 years with children, shot dead trying to produce his legal gun permit.

  • GettingOlder58

Israel has a FANTASTIC crowd dispersal agent and it is safe to even drink… if you can get past the smell and it lingers for days… it is properly called SKUNK.

CMPD needs to get some SKUNK for they worthless cretins.

    • biznesschic

The worthless cretin shot a man, who had a gun when it was legal in NC, with no questions asked because he was black.

      • Jill Hodges Betts

Who was a complete dumbass that got out of his vehicle with the gun in his hand. Yeah, that is the smart thing to do. Get out of your vehicle after police officers tell you to with a gun in your hand. Were you born stupid?

        • biznesschic

HE had that right in NC, RIGHT? Oh I forgot, not if he is black.

  • biznesschic

Blue lives matter thinks that I, being black and a permit gun holder, should be shot because I decided to cover my mouth when I coughed, was a threat and I should be shot dead. Sorry, this site is unamerican, and shows why black people don’t trust the police.

  • Jared Sykes

Honestly who fucking cares what she yelled at police. The men and women sworn to serve and protect civilians shot her father 4 times in front of her. If you don’t see how that could traumatize someone, you’re a heartless scumbag. Also, what’s the point in mentioning the shooter was Black? The issue is the repeated killing of Black men and women by police who face no justice after.

    • biznesschic

In a state that allows no permit to have a gun. Now, this site wants to issue a death order, for a black guy following the rules that voters of that state said was OK.

      • 3dgrunge

You must have a holster for that gun if you wish to openly carry it. Pointing it at the police is not legal btw.

        • biznesschic

No you do not, what holster is for an AK47, site the law that says that.

  • Bellarii

It’s an open carry state — just having a gun, even if it is visible, is no reason to shoot someone. The law here says so. They are protesting, not rioting. Someone in their community just got shot (AGAIN) — do you expect singing and holding of hands? And “looting”? Interesting how there is no proof of that anywhere in your “article”. I use the term loosely because the gross bias in this thing makes it more of an opinion piece than actual news.

    • thistownwilleatyou

No – they are rioting. They shut down an interstate. Set fires on the interstate. Looted a Walmart. This is a bunch of social misfits acting like social misfits. Here’s your proof about looting: http://www.fox46charlotte.com/news/local-news/206775479-story

      • biznesschic

Again, IF you have a law that doesn’t pertain to black males, then change the law.

      • Bellarii

Shutting down the interstate isn’t rioting. Pictures with some broken glass in them, that show no protesters, just proves that a few idiots took advantage of the commotion and decided to steal. The majority of people are indeed protesting. There is no riot outside of that store or anywhere else in the city.

  • Whitey Joe Young

The worst part of this whole thing IMO is that the po-leece need to start recording every damn time they shoot an armed black man. It is then, and only then, that people will know the truth, and some of these out-of-control BLM protests have a chance of not happening.
We cannot truly believe the police. They close ranks behind the blue wall, code-of-silence, and this has been going on for so long, they think they’re invincible. They make an honest mistake, shoot the guy with a book instead of a gun (I’m not saying that it was a book, but such has happened elsewhere many times over), then plant a gun so they can cover their ass and keep their pension.
So, police folk, we are not against you, per se, but the bull5hit has to stop. Everyone on the planet is carrying a video recorder in their pocket now, and as you can see from this case, anyone angry or crazy enough can get on Facebook and foment a riot, whether what they are ranting about is right or wrong. Your only alternatives: find another profession if you are a dirtbag POS who can’t do the job right, due to a nervous disposition or anger issues or just being plain mean…. or, you can play it squeaky clean, wear a body cam, make sure it’s ON, and be very vocally supportive of body cams, complete transparency, and ending the code-of-silence blue wall that protects bad or just incompetent cops when they F*ck up.

    • biznesschic

What are you talking about VLAD. IF the open carry law without a permit doesn’t pertain to black males, then change the law.

  • KalashRifleman

A group of blacks lied? Surprising. Is grass also green, the sky blue, and fire hot?

    • biznesschic

Then change the law that anyone can carry a gun without a permit, IF it doesn’t include black males.

  • Jonah Hill

Ever since these goons lied about Saint Skittles I can’t believe the story that comes out right away. Wait for more facts.

    • biznesschic

Yeah, just say a black man doesn’t have the 2nd amendment to bare arms without being shot, and be done with it.

      • 3dgrunge

No one is legally allowed to step out of their car with a loaded gun and point it at the police. That is suicide by cop when it is a white person but apparently a hate crime by police when the idiot is black. You are one sick racist bastard.

        • biznesschic

WHAT about a cop, who is not in uniform?

          • George Smith

When they shout POLICE, any intelligent person would get a clue, especially when a whole group of them are there, some with POLICE on their vests. Wake up, face reality.

      • George Smith

Convicted felons like him, who did prison time for shooting someone with an illegal gun, like him, DO NOT HAVE SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS.

  • Michael

Fcking insane! Another POS who pointed a gun at a cop and got killed for it! Why would anyone protest or especially riot in favor of this criminal? As these people are inciting riots, endangering public safety, and causing wonton destruction, these are not legitimate protesters, these are wonton criminals and terrorists. Appeasing them will not make them law abiding, it empowers them to become even more dangerous and destructive. The national Guard should be called in with the authority to stop the destruction and violence through force. If the crowed gathers and becomes threatening, hit them with tear gas. If they start destroying public property, hit them with water cannons and brutal force. If they throw rocks at cops without reguard, they should be shot.

  • Abe Wellington

(next time) A picture posted of the Gun before the riots start would be helpful. Determination if the person shot was a known felon, drug dealer, gangbanger ect. would be useful. Was the gun Legal? Did he have a Permit?

    • biznesschic

Yeah right, the police knew he was a known felon, when they shot him when NC says you can carry without a permit. What will be the excuse, when they shoot Philando Castle?

    • George Smith

He was a known felon (for a shooting with an illegal gun), and the license plate would have told them that before they even walked up if that was his vehicle. Philando drove around with a gun on his lap, smoking dope, and was so stoned that when the cop said DON’T REACH DOWN, he did it anyway. Him and that horrid female creature smoked dope in front of that little kid and posted youtube videos of it also, total scum, both of them.

  • bridgette

When my dad died I was weary and grieving. I didn’t think to live Facebook stream it. MY bad.

I also didn’t think to call him a m*****f****r. Apologies for that also…..

    • biznesschic

Yea, your BAD for not supporting a black American legal gun owner, who was shot dead in front of his girlfriend and her 4 year old daughter.

      • bridgette

He had LAWFUL INSTRUCTION to drop the gun and didn’t. I have a concealed carry and if the law asks me to disarm my weapon, i disarm it and suffer consequences if I do not. Common sense. And if his 4 year old was around him, he should have placed her well being above any issue with his gun.

      • George Smith

Because he reached towards a gun. And who drives around with a pistol unholstered in their lap? And what parents drive around smoking drugs with that four year old in the car and post a bunch of youtube vids of doing it? These people were scum.

  • RonA

I will wait to see the results of fingerprint and dna testing on the “recovered gun” and bullets.

  • biznesschic

When will Blue lives matter issue a correction to Philando Castle and his family?

    • George Smith

For what? He drove around with a gun on his lap. Who does that, seriously? Then when the cop said don’t move, he reached that way, regardless of what he was reaching for, and he was shot. If he hadn’t been stoned out of his mind, perhaps he would have obeyed the commands. Perhaps if he spent his money on paying all of his tickets and had a legal vehicle instead of buying guns none of this would have happened.

  • Mark Deviney

Just some thugs getting their Christmas shopping done early, nothing to protest here he had a gun and didn’t drop it when told to. This is not any police person panicking and shooting prematurely like the Tulsa situation looks to be , so follow the motto thugs ….PANTS UP, DON’T LOOT!!

  • kat

Yup, he was reading a book……..hahaha. From the comments and language coming out of the daughter, it looks like theres a long line of “readers” in the family.

    • biznesschic

He had a right to have a gun on him according to NC law. Where is it in the constitution that say that black men don’t have equal protection under the law?

      • thistownwilleatyou

No one is disputing his right to have a gun. But, when an officer tells you to drop your gun, and you don’t, you become an imminent threat, and it usually ends badly. Why is this so hard to understand? Cops are trained to asses and dismantle a threat in a split second. If you have a gun that you refuse to drop when told by the police, you are a threat… and not too bright for that matter.

        • biznesschic

WHY would an officer tell him to drop a weapon, when they were not searching for him, and he has a legal right to carry?

    • George Smith

LOL. Listen to his family talk…and ask yourself how much reading they do.

  • Bella Limonata

What the author of this article fails to mention is that North Carolina is an open carry state. If Mr. Scott was armed, he was legally allowed to be. In North Carolina, you don’t even need a permit to carry a gun. Simply having a gun in an open carry state is not reasonable suspicion for the police to detain or even approach a person. Don’t get so caught up in your disdain for the oppressed that you lose sight of the fact that the police are encroaching on our civil liberties. This man was executed by public servants for exercising the rights they were sworn to protect.

    • thistownwilleatyou

I’ve not seen a single instance of someone disputing his right to own or carry a gun. But, when a police officer tells you to put down your weapon, and you refuse to put down your weapon, that is a threat. If he had put down his weapon, he’d probably be sitting in his car reading a book today – with his handgun in car. He decided to go at it with a cop instead.

      • Bella Limonata

I must be reading outdated news stories because the reports I’ve seen say nothing about this man approaching the police with his gun drawn. From the information I’ve read I can ascertain that the police were in the area trying to serve a warrant on another person who lived in the same apartment complex. They observed Mr. Scott get out of his car with a gun in his hand and they began to approach him. He returned to his car and exited again, still holding his gun. At this point, the police instructed him to put the gun down and shot him dead. The issue is not whether or not he had a gun, the issue is why did the police bother him in the first place? They had no reasonable suspicion that criminal activity was afoot, and therefore had no legal reason to even approach this man and tell him to drop his weapon. North Carolina is an open carry state so getting out of a car with a gun is not a crime.

      • biznesschic

What else is the police to say, when they shout he has a gun, and shoots the guy.

      • George Smith

I dispute his right. He was a convicted felon who did prison time for shooting a man with an illegal gun. I completely dispute his right to have a gun any where near his person.

    • budfudlacker

Good lord….the oppressed? You have no d**n clue what oppression is. I could drop you in nearly any other country and you’d be begging to be given back the opportunities you have here in the US. You think poverty is exclusive to minorities? How in the world do we have black doctors, lawyers and a (half) black president if they’re so oppressed? How in the world are more white people gunned down by police every year if they are so hell-bent on exterminating blacks?

You aren’t oppressed. Oppression is an excuse weak minded and lazy people use to try and get special treatment.

      • Bella Limonata

Sir, you’re obviously living under the delusion that the United States is the greatest country in the world. Spare me your patented “Blacks have equal opportunities” response to people speaking about the oppression of people of color in this country. The other boilerplate arguments are:
        1. What about Black on Black crime
        2. Irish were slaves too, you don’t hear them complaining
        3. Slavery was 400 years ago, I had nothing to do with it.
        4. They should have been obeying the law/following police instructions and they wouldn’t be dead.
        5. Black people are more racist than anybody.

I’ve heard all of your arguments before just from a different person. It still does not answer the question of why were the police bothering this man who was not obviously breaking any laws in the first place?

        • budfudlacker

I’m sure if you would set your bias aside for 30 minutes or so and stop eating up this paranoid, race baiting garbage you’d find an answer to your question rather quickly. I never said the US was the greatest country on earth, that’s debatable, but the opportunities given to everyone here is not. However, your ilk is conditioned to be the victim no matter what. You WANT to be the victim. You NEED to be the victim. The path of least resistance, right? Why try being accountable and responsible for once if you can finagle people into feeling sorry for you so you’ll get some special treatment, yes?

Truth hurts, I know. Have fun crying and whining for the rest of your life.

          • Bella Limonata

I believe that i n order to enforce the law, you must first know and respect it. And while a man with a gun in an open carry state may have alarmed the police, it still was not a criminal act. The laws of that state guarantee that man the right to carry a weapon and the police not only trampled that right, they killed a man in the process. It’s not paranoid theories, sir, it’s actually happening. Terence Crutcher’s car broke down and the police saw him as a threat and killed him. Philando Castille had a permit and a legal right to carry a gun and the police killed him. Open your eyes dude.

          • George Smith

He was first seen using illegal drugs, that’s what got the ball rolling. Stop and think about how silly what you are saying is. Follow the path of logic, and look at what a lowlife violent thug this guy was.

        • George Smith

Delusion? Please tell us which other country would allow a minority to become their leader, or where a couple of college dropouts like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs could become what they became? What other country allows a poor minority guy from the ghetto like Ben Carson to be one of the top brain surgeons on earth? What other country offers unlimited possibilities to it’s poorest citizens? What is that country? Please enlighten us?

Why don’t you grow up, and focus on making something out of your life instead of complaining about nonsense.

    • George Smith

It’s not “open carry ” or any other kind of carry for convicted felons. If that was his vehicle, the license plate told the cops who they were dealing with a few seconds.

  • Mind Control at work*

  • gwhh

I read someone today. He just got out of jail after 9 years?? is that true??

    • Michael Gorland

Had he been previously sentenced to a long sentence for reading books after hours at the local library?

  • Trevor Karl

Black thugs riot because a black thug was killed by police.

  • Amy

I’m an older white woman, child of the sixties. This website absolutely chock full of lies. For shame. Power to the people. They won’t stop. They’ve got to be stopped. “Officer-involved shooting?” That’s what they always call it. I call it “murder by cop.”

  • gessiewtf

What a mouth of filWho says that? th on the daughter. “Police shot my M***ther f*****ng daddy., Who talks like that. And the fake story about the book.

  • Kel Sess

Isn’t NC an open carry state?

    • George Smith

Not for convicted felons who did prison time for shooting a man it isn’t. Have you even bothered to look at this thugs record?

  • Kel Sess

And wasn’t the officer in civilian clothes?

  • lucernhammer

As a pro gun person I want to see the body cams. as having a gun especially when being approached by armed individuals who aren’t in uniform is kinda the fucking point .
If the officers were clearly police then drop the gun is a legitimate command but having a gun in nc is legal and should never be an excuse for an execution.
I’m trying to remain neutral but the “trust ” in police is long gone. Even working white people want the facts not the statement of the shooter .

    • George Smith

He was a convicted felon and a prohibited possessor, so no, it wasn’t legal, first off. He shot a man with an illegal gun, went to prison for it, and his wife accused him of using another illegal gun to threaten her recently, before stabbing her, beating her, and beating her kid. Don’t stick up for an animal like this, it reflects poorly on you.

  • Winifred

Finally found a gun “on scene” , apparently took a while to decide whose Throw away was going to be used. I watched the video, no aid was given immediately. Tell me another one.

  • Michael Perriello

So now it will be said that the cops planted the weapon. Hopefully it is registered to this guy.

    • George Smith

He was a convicted felon arrested and imprisoned for years for shooting a man with another illegal gun. Prohibited possessor.

  • snowyriver

I know the cops say he was armed… I want to see the video of the police taking the gun from his hand.. I trust no one.

  • Wendy Nicholson

Liberalism run amuck! I blame this on the Democrats and the lazy white people who remain silent for fear of being labeled a racist. To think that are coming after our firearms next…! Our last last line of defense. That notion is truly “deplorable “… If you can see these images and think that disarming our country is acceptable….then you are to stupid to be allowed to vote…Unfortunately, thats just the way the DNC wants you to be. You all make me sick! Now, run out and hang with the bros , burn down yiur town and businesses, loot Wal-Mart , or CVS or your next door neighbor….Ignorant Assh-oles.

  • 18th street

That black bitch should have been beaten and arrested. She calls her father “mo***f*****n daddy”. WHAT scum!! She is the definition of a NIGGER. Total liar and RACIST. Shot because he is “black”? He was shot by a BLACK officer. There is no point in talking to NIGGERs: worse than trying to talk to a dog.

  • Alex Hader

I’m tired of hearing about black people and all their problems. More less I’m tired of the Media exploiting them and their disfunctionality which just encourages more violence and more ignorance.

  • Alex Hader

    fuck my life

  • Alex Hader

I blame public education according to religion we are all slaves so get the fuck over it. According to the Bible God allowed slavery and was cool with it until his chosen people was beaten and abused as slaves.

  • Alex Hader

    No Na’vi lives don’t matter.

  • Blaksbbth

Black Looters Matter, I am so tired of your hate and violence that I no longer care about your cause

  • rowrbazzle

Of course, the cops won’t release the video, will they? Shouldn’t that tell you something, hmmm?? And body cams were, of course, not activated.. And there is video evidence elsewhere of a cop planting a gun on a victim. In fact, cops plant drugs and guns on alleged perps all the time. And in the ensuing “riot,” which was a peaceful protest before the riot police arrived, a cop ambushed a protestor with a rubber bullet or tear gas canister to the head, and apparently killed him. This is true. Sorry, but the police in many U.S. cities are violent and untrustworthy. They do not deserve to wear a uniform. They are unsuited for the job. .

more lies from worthless racist pigs – did you see picture of “gun” for sure it is not a gun at all, it a Quran, Quran was the book he carried around with him

  • Joe
    • George Smith

There are crystal clear pictures of the gun. You don’t know but a tiny fraction of the facts in the case, you haven’t seen the evidence, but once it comes out you will feel silly.

    http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/charlotte-shooting-video-footage-shows-fatal-encounter-between-police-keith-n653426

At one minute and 43 seconds you can see a gun being tossed on the ground by a cop off frame – lower right.

Run through it frame at a time. They planted a gun. The cop in red or the one behind him.

  • patriotgamer

People of Charlotte and the United States:

You are being deceived. The deceased in Charlotte was a convicted felon. He has a long criminal past. He has shown a propensity for violence on multiple occasions and had spent years behind bars. You are rioting over a career criminal. He spent 7 years in a Texas prison from a 2005 conviction. I copy and pasted this clips below:

Mecklenburg County records matching Keith Lamont Scott’s name and birth date show Scott was charged in April 2004 with multiple counts, including felony assault with a deadly weapon. Records show that most of the charges were dismissed, and he pleaded guilty to a single charge of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.

Records from nearby Gaston County show that Scott pleaded guilty to driving while impaired in 2015.

    http://www.wbrc.com/…/the-latest-aclu-seeks-police-video-of…

Here is a complete listing of Keith Scotts criminal record that the media doesn’t want to show you:

A public records search shows that Scott was convicted in April 2004 of a misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon charge in Mecklenburg County. Other charges stemming from that date were dismissed: felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and misdemeanors assault on a child under 12, assault on a female and communicating threats.

In April 2015 in Gaston County Court, Scott was found guilty of driving while intoxicated.

In 1992, Scott was charged in Charleston County, S.C., with several different crimes on different dates, including carrying a concealed weapon (not a gun), simple assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He pleaded guilty to all charges.

Scott also was charged with aggravated assault in 1992 and assault with intent to kill in 1995. Both charges were reduced, but the disposition of the cases is unclear.

According to Bexar County, Texas, records, Scott was sentenced in March 2005 to 15 months in a state jail for evading arrest. In July of that year, records show, he was sentenced to seven years in prison on a conviction of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman said Scott completed his sentence and was released from prison in 2011.

    • George Smith

Let me also say he GREATLY plea bargained down his conviction. He actually shot a man, and was originally charged with attempted murder, and he also threatened to kill his wife with another stolen gun recently, per the wife, and this is why he had an RO against him, from her. Not to mention that he stabbed her and nearly punctured her lung, as well as beating other family members. This guy was the lowest of the lowlifes, so it’s amazing that anyone martyrs this thug.

  • jordans1

Open carry is legal in NC ( even for black people) the police had no business starting anything with this NON suspect. He was not a suspect but police went and created a situation which they then claimed scared them and caused them to shoot someone. They are killing non suspects which is a problem in my book. Had they not bothered him he would have gone about his daily life as he was that very moment they insinuated themselves into his life then ended it.

    • George Smith

Open carry and all other forms of carry are illegal for convicted felons like this guy, who did prison time for shooting someone with a stolen gun, and who has threatened his wife (per the wife’s statement) with another illegal gun recently. He also had a restraining order against him, and people with an RO against them also may not have guns, even if they are not felons as this guy was. You need to study the facts before spewing nonsense.

  • Angela Mackenzie

This was a case of shooting a disabled man. The police did not act properly they should have never used a gun. Police took a job where they know they can be killed but their job is to protect and serve. This was not protecting that man. They could have backed off. Again they took an oath to protect and serve. Not to shoot a citizen who has not done anything like firing a gun. Only shots heard were theirs. Worse still he was disabled and they never took the time to talk to his wife. They were there to serve a warrant on someone else. He was sitting in his car. Could have left him alone. Useless he is a threat to himself or others they had no reason to shoot him. I am deaf I put myself in that car waiting for my child from school. I believe because I am deaf I would have been killed. This is a terrible policemen who shot him. He should be fired and brought up on charges of manslaughter.

    • George Smith

What was his disability, and where is the proof of this? Because the hoodrat wife said it?

This guy was a horrid thug with a conviction for shooting another man with stolen gun, threatening to kill his wife with another illegal gun, stabbing his wife, beating his wife, beating his kids, using drugs, on and on. It’s all public record….a total lowlife dirtbag. Why is it so difficult for you to understand that this is what the guy was, and that acting badly with illegal guns is something he has a history of doing?

  • Pete

I hate to see what happens after a cop does his job. “Protect and serve the community” the police we’re looking for someone else all together so you gotta be fucking kidding me that they would stop and shoot a guy reading a book. The media and these livestreams force a false narrative down everyone throat without haveing all the facts. Making the story take a totally different turn. Now let’s say your still pissed he got shot I get t go protest, but don’t shoot other protestors don’t LOOT THE BLACK OWNED BUSINESSES because what will happen is they will leave guess what comes next? Your right BANDOS and if you don’t know what they are they are abandoned buildings which will completely destroy your city and your economy. Next time you want to protest a cop shooting a non compliant FELON and protecting other families in that neighborhood who have a right for safety. Think about accountability you have to be accountable for your actions and the effect they have on others around you!!!!!!

    • George Smith

After listening to his family “speak”, I am confident that “reading books” isn’t something they have done much of.

Also, a quick look at this evil thug’s background and criminal record shows multiple gun crimes, a shooting, a felony conviction, drug use, prison time, on and on. Why anyone refuses to see what he was, is beyond me.

  • RPJ

Now, I’ve seen the photo released by the Charlotte police, watched both the body cam video and Scott’s wife’s video, neither show a gun by his foot positioned in the same place as the photo. I want to believe the Charlotte police account but the visual evidence does not support it.

  • Chill Doctor

I saw no gun in Scott’s hand and no hand raised by him to indicate a threat to officers. Was the gun recovered from Scotts ankle holster after he was shot? That is how it appears.

    • George Smith

You don’t have to raise a gun to be a threat, read up.

      • Chill Doctor

“Read up where? What reference? If there is a reference to “read up” in then the general public needs that same info so they know the rules they are playing by. Police have an unfair advantage by using laws in their favor to kill and then defend themselves from prosecution. You may not have to raise a gun to be a threat but the question is “was Scott a threat”?

  • George Smith

Black LIES Matter was founded on the lie of “hands up don’t shoot” which never happened, after idolizing a guy who robbed a liquor store and beat up a cop, and tried to take his gun.

Does it really surprise anyone that these same brain-dead numbskulls are martyring a convicted felon who did prison time for shooting someone with an illegal gun? This guy also threatened to shoot his wife (per the wife’s statement), before he stabbed her, beat her and their kid, after which she placed a restraining order on him which was in place as of his death. Add in drug use and an arm long criminal rap sheet, and all but the blind can see that this guy had a long history of violence and crime, including violence with illegal guns, which this time, was his undoing.

  • Terence Campbell

I have had my own nightmare dealing with official recorded radio transmissions when I called 911 for my 42 year old wife ( a mother of our 10 year old son and a veteran of the war on terror) experiencing an asthma attack. The dispatcher sent the ambulance to the incorrect TOWN severely delaying the response time. My wife died 2 days later. When I wanted to know what happened ALL parties REFUSED to produce any records including the hospital. Then the hospital produced very limited records when I noticed discrepancies. I then requested ALL the records but ALL parties fraudulently concealed such records as they ALL have a “fidicuary duty” to disclose info to the surviving spouse and administrator of her estate. It required my serving a subpoena before they produced some of the records and only after the statute of limitations had run for wrongful death did they produce the rest. Thats when all the ugly details emerged. BUT thats not all. They ordeered an autopsy and stole her organs when in their own records it clearly states the family refused donation. Her driver’s license was a NON-donor as well. ANYWAY, the recorded evidence was obviously tampered with in the very same way the police did here and Im very sad to say it was predictable for anyone who has dealt with the police or EMS and my guess any government agency.NOW, the victims family needs her own audio/video forensic expert and a bunch of money to file suit in CIVIL court and force the production of the original recordings to compare with the copies pursuant to F.R.E. 1002 I believe without googling it. To the best of my knowledge after researching a bit for my own case fraud and fraudulent concealment is a cause of action pursuant to the restatement of Torts (2nd) 449-525..a couple of possible causes of civil action as well as criminal charges for obstruction of justice & breach of public duty as public servants have a duty to perform their duties in good faith. Producing fraudulent official records is NOT good faith performance of ones official duties. This is one of the only ways to beat their immunity is when the family proves gross negligence, willful and wanton conduct ( reckless disregard for piublic safety,) and bad faith or malicious conduct which both fraud and conbcealment are. This has to stop!! Police do not get a free pass to tamper with official records. This affects every official record from traffic stops to E.M.S. as my case is about. The courts must uphold the integrity of the systemand can’t be in the business of condoning ANY tampering with evidence by police or any other government agency. It’s that simple. If they are allowed to tamper with official records we have no democracy. Tampering is as bad as the rioters conduct as both are examples of chaos

only blacks can yell profanity at the police and not get arrested.
