BREAKING: Irma Evacuation 6m+ Largest In U.S. History – ‘It’s Not Clear That It’s A Survivable Situation’

Hurricane Irma has caused the largest evacuation in U.S. history.

Hurricane Irma has caused the largest evacuation in U.S. history.

Massive Coastal Evacuations For Hurricane Irma

Over 6 million people have been told to evacuate Florida and Georgia as Hurricane Irma is now expected may hit as a Category 5 Hurricane.

As of Friday night, the hurricane has slightly weakened to Category 4, but forecasters predict that it could build back in strength to Category 5.

The only good news is that the storm has shifted even more west so that Miami is not in the direct path of the worst part of the storm. Miami is home to more than 6 million people.

Unfortunately, the hurricane is so wide that it will engulf the state and hurricane force winds will reach from coast-to-coast.

“This is a storm that will kill you if you don’t get out of the way,” National Hurricane Center meteorologist Dennis Feltgen said, according to ABC News. “Everybody’s going to feel this one.”

The National Weather Service tweeted:

The National Hurricane Center said, “It’s not clear that it’s a survivable situation for anybody that is still there in the Keys.”

Ed Rappaport explained that the storm surge would take over with 5-10 feet of storm surge and destructive waves, which could completely wipe out anything in the Florida Keys.

Governor Rick Scott told people that they need to people now if they are in Southern Florida. “If you are planning to leave and do not leave tonight, you will have to ride out this extremely dangerous storm at your own risk.”

Hurricane Irma comes after Hurricane Harvey became the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history.
