‘No Justice, No Peace’ Black Lives Matter Group To Receive Peace Prize
Black Lives Matter Awarded Sydney Peace Prize
Sydney, AU – In perhaps one of the most nonsensical awards ever granted, the 2017 Sydney Peace Prize is being awarded to Patrisse Cullors, Opal Tometi, and Alicia Garza, the founders of Black Lives Matter.
According to The Daily Caller, the group is scheduled to receive a “peaceful award” ‘to highlight’ its work to bring about ‘change in a nonviolent way’. The award will be presented on November 2 in Sydney.
In a press release, the Sydney Peace Foundation said that it honors people each year who are “leading global voices that promote peace, justice and nonviolence. It also said that they chose Black Lives Matter “because of the movement’s dedication to its “bold and visionary strategies.”
The Sydney Peace Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Australian professor and activist/social justice warrior Stuart Rees, and is associated with the University of Australia. The Peace Prize is considered Australia’s ‘International Prize for Peace’, according to the Sydney Peace Foundation.
Past recipients of the Peace Prize include Australian attorney, human rights and refugee advocate Julian Burnside; MIT Professor, socialist and political activist Noam Chomsky; and former Irish president Mary Robinson.
The Guardian acknowledged the selection as “controversial,” due to the group’s association with “…images of week-long and occasionally violent protests at Ferguson, Missouri,” which occurred after the death of Michael Brown. The group has also been chanting called for violence against police, such as, “Pigs in a blanket, fry ’em like bacon.”
The group is also known for chanting “no justice, no peace.” Hint: They still don’t think they’ve seen justice.
Perhaps the word ‘peace’ has been re-defined, or means something else entirely in Australia. Peace is not the rioting, the violence and looting that was Black Lives Matter, and that happened in Ferguson, Baltimore, Oakland, Milwaukee, Bloomington, Baton Rouge, or Charlotte, just to name a few.
There is nothing peaceful about Black Lives Matter. In addition to the violence and rioting, there are the assaults on police officers, called for and sanctioned by activists within the group. Then there are the assassinations of police officers inspired by the group’s false narrative about police officers.
Five Dallas Police Officers: Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael J. Smith, Brent Thompson and Patrick Zamarripa – were murdered in Dallas in July, 2016, according to The New York Times. They were murdered by Micah Johnson, who told police during a standoff that he “was upset about Black Lives Matter, about the recent police shootings.”
Johnson also said that he was, “upset at white people, and that he wanted to kill white people, especially officers.” Seven police officers and two civilians were injured in his sniper attack. Johnson opened fire at the end of a Black Lives Matter protest of the deaths of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling.
Black Lives Matter has spent years branding themselves as an extremist political organization with black nationalist ideology, who promote their cause by creating unrest and spreading false information. It’s amazing that anybody could suggest that the organization is peaceful.
Do you think that Black Lives Matter could ever be labeled a “peaceful” organization? Do you think that the award committee is ignorant or deluded? We’d like to hear what you think. Please let us know your thoughts in the comments.
