Black Lives Matter Opposes Teaching Students Their Rights

Trenton, New Jersey –  A new bill passed last month by the New Jersey Assembly to teach kids how to ‘interact’ with police officers and prevent confrontations is being opposed by Black Lives Matter.

The vote on the bill was unanimous, and is similar to what is called “the talk,” a conversation that many black parents say that they have with their children, according to Philly.com.  But the group Black Lives Matters doesn’t like the idea, and is calling for a ‘no vote’ when the bill reaches the Senate.

Sheila Oliver, Assemblywoman and bill co-sponsor of the bill, said “Look, I’m just trying to save lives.”  In response, Alexis Miller, lead organizer for the Paterson, New Jersey chapter of Black Lives Matter, said that the bill places the responsibility of police interaction on the person, and “allows police to continue to evade accountability.”

She said, “This bill is clearly designed to create a scapegoat for police brutality, and that scapegoat is New Jersey’s children.  It does nothing to address the laws already in place that protect the immense power of police departments.  Students … children are expected to master the idea of respectability politics in order to protect themselves from officers.”

Assemblywoman Oliver said that ‘The Talk’ is a private conversation that black parents have with their children especially as they get at the age where they’re driving, and is intended to alleviate the fear she says they may have about being stopped by the police.

She said that the bill is simply to give students and ultimately their parents information about their rights, and their role in interaction with police officers.

Black Lives Matter said that the bill does nothing to stop what they referred to as “rampant police brutality.”

After discussion between Oliver, the ACLU, and other legislators, the bill was modified to include instruction about a person’s rights when interacting with officers.  The new version includes teaching students “about the officer’s responsibility and proper behavior, their own rights as citizens, and how to file a complaint, if necessary”.

A similar law was passed in Texas, Illinois, and Virginia that requires high school students to learn what they should do during a traffic stop. The class is part of their driver’s education curriculum.

The states of Mississippi, North Carolina, and Rhode Island are considering similar laws.  Oliver said that current programs sponsored by the ACLU, National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers, and Jack and Jill of America, are good, but they’re not enough.

Patrick Colligan, president of the New Jersey State Policeman’s Benevolent Association, said that the group supports Oliver’s legislation.  He said “There is no training … no learning about something that can’t be a benefit to everyone involved.  I think something like this provides everyone with the opportunity to look at, and perhaps understand, the situation from an entirely different perspective.”

BLM leaders are so damn stupid! They don’t even recognize that a conversation involves TWO PEOPLE, not just one! Clearly, an office cannot talk with a citizen if “full responsibility” is on the officer for the give & take that occurs! Things like common courtesy, obeying just laws, following the directions given by an officer, etc. are not in BLM’s vocabulary at all. Typical liberal drivel.

    • bacchys

When a cop is having a “conversation” with someone, who is the one paid by taxpayers to be a professional?

  • Ray_Sears

Mama taught me to act like a decent human being, and to be respectful to other folks in all of my dealings until they show me otherwise as a child, unlike most parents today she made damm sure i did. NUFF SAID !

  • Pushed to the limit

All they have to do is behave……. That’s it…. WTF is so hard about that?

    • bacchys

Well, they might still get shot even if they behave. So…

      • Pushed to the limit

        So, you can’t fix ni66er.

        • bacchys

          Nor racists, it seems.

          • Pushed to the limit

Haha…….. Wait till you get mugged…………

          • bacchys

I’ve been the victim of an attempted mugging, bigot. Your point?

  • I suppose the BLM wants more black children/adults to be shot/killed/jailed? Judging for their stance against the proposed bill that must be the case. I am sure it (the bill when enacted) will contain such things as no sudden moves with the hands, do not point real or replica guns anywhere near the police, when the police tell you to do something save the complaining for later. All good common sense notions that my parents taught me and I taught my children and their children. i want my kinfolk alive.

  • Darrell

More concrete proof that to BLM, Black lives DO NOT matter, only more Soros $$$$$$$ and their agenda matters.
Why does the article and BLM supporters believe that it is ONLY black parents that have “The Talk” with their children? There are millions of responsible parents of ALL races that correctly teach their children the proper way to interact with a Police Officer. For all BUT BLM and their rabid supporters, that includes lessons in basic respect, and legal cooperation, not confrontation, and doing whatever you feel like because youtube told you you had a “right”!

  • bacchys

The bill doesn’t do anything to protect those kids, so I don’t see the problem in BLM opposing it.
Philando Castile didn’t do anything wrong. He’s still dead. Jon Crawford III didn’t do anything wrong. He’s still dead. Andrew Lee Scott didn’t do anything wrong. He’s also dead. The same is true of Jon Geer.
The problem is the lack of professionalism and the low standards for law enforcement, not citizens not knowing how to act.
I don’t oppose teaching people what their rights are, however. But chances are that’s more likely to put them at risk of a false arrest or anger some cop. Somehow I don’t see [Only] Blue Lives Matter backing a law that requires children be taught that every cop is possibly a roid-raging, homicidal maniac who should be regarded as a rabid dog, however.

    • Brigadon

When did you get out of Prison, Boy?

      • bacchys

I’ve never been in prison, sonny. When did you get out?

        • Brigadon

I see, you only TALK like a convict.

          • bacchys

I didn’t talk. It’s a written forum. It’s weird that you confuse intelligent, reasonable comments with “TALK[ing] like a convict.” You must be a pedophile, then.

          • Brigadon

It’s amusing that you expound on the differences between Talking in a textual forum and talking verbally. I was mistaken, you are not a convict, you are simply autistic.
That is not an insult. Autistics cannot help their gullibility. The fact that you even, for a moment, consider BLM’s retarded rage at common sense education reasonable under any circumstances means that you either have a deep-seated hatred for law enforcement, implying convict status, or you simply are incapable of distinguishing the difference between an incident and a trend, strongly implying autism.

I am doing you the courtesy of not assuming you are simply a stupid blacktivist.

          • bacchys

For someone with a limited comprehension of English you sure are wordy.

Also typical of the moronically self-righteous, you’re more interested in spouting ignorantly about what someone else is or believes rather than make any substantive comment. You posted something stupid and I highlighted how stupid it is. Now you’re whining about it. Toughen up, snowflake.
This isn’t likely to be “common sense education” for the kids. It’s more likely to be police propaganda and a failure to educate those kids on what their rights and responsibilities actually are under the law. The problem isn’t citizens not giving police respect, but that’s what this looks to address.

          • Brigadon

For someone with the IQ of a cabbage, you too are wordy. You wish to continue supporting BLM, be my guest… It is true that police need to have some checks and balances placed upon them, and the newest (and in my opinion best) of them are personal cameras that the liberals insisted that they wear, and NOW are insisting are ‘not evidence’ every single time that they prove that a police shooting is justified.

Sure, you can name names of police shootings that were not justified. Sometimes an officer is surprised or frightened. Heck, there must be a dozen in the last decade alone. Compared to about 1000 per YEAR that are completely justified. ALSO compared to the almost 150 police that are killed in the line of duty last year alone.

So no, your argument that BLM race-baiters are ‘justified’ in denying children the education they need to NOT get into an altercation with the cops, especially in a high-crime area, is so far into the range of ridiculous that only an autistic, a white person desperately trying to ‘atone’ for being white, or a career criminal could take it seriously.

          • bacchys

You’re a moron, so you should have taken your own advice about being too wordy. You’re proving the adage that it’s better to keep one’s mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.
You’re inventing things for me I haven’t said, which is par for the course. The ignorant like yourself always assume others are as stupid and ignorant as they are.
BLM isn’t wrong to oppose **this program.** It’s not going to improve police-community relations, and it puts the onus on the wrong party. Saying they aren’t wrong in this instance is hardly broad support for them.
That many- and probably most- police shootings are justified isn’t an excuse for those that aren’t, nor is it an excuse for the institutional corruption that infests our law enforcement institutions and undercuts the credibility they need for those shootings to be considered justified. I realize you’re ignorant so you have no idea what I’m talking about. You obviously limit yourself to information streams that only buttress what you want to believe instead of looking for information from diverse sources. On the off chance that you’re willing to not be an ignorant moron, I suggest you look up Radley Balko’s four-part series on the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. He writes a blog in the Washington Post, which is where that series is published.

          • Brigadon

Nope, just paraphrasing what you have said. The stupidity of your own words ring true once you strip away all the excess fat you like to pad them with.

I am not sure how many years you served, but I was in for a while. there are absolutely a few corrupt cops, and a few bullies get in past the screening… However, you are providing NOTHING but ‘proof by excerpt’ ie, “IT COULD HAPPEN TO ME!” for rare and complicated situations.

Trust me, I have DEALT with corrupt law enforcement before… Long-term violent suspects with multiple felonies getting shot because a cop felt threatened has NOTHING to do with ‘corruption’. It is almost always a either a scared rookie or a burnout that has seen that murderous bastard go through the revolving door at the jailhouse too many times.

It is ironic, however, that an armchair cop feels the need to call people ‘ignorant’ simply because he is too stupid to understand why educating the public how NOT to get killed by mistake is a ‘bad thing’.

          • bacchys

            Had to make two commnents?

While Rock’s advice was hilarious, it wasn’t exactly accurate. Andrew Lee Scott, Jon Crawford III, and many, many others weren’t murderous multiple felons some burnout had seen go through the jailhouse door too many times. Moreover, the deaths of armed felons who are reasonably perceived as threatening the officer aren’t the cases that are sparking outrage.

I don’t have to agree with BLM’s tactics or beliefs to think they are occasionally right. You’re too stupid and binary to comprehend that. You’re another Team Politics nitwit who is going t side with Your Team regardless. I can’t say expected much different given the site this is. You’re definitely an Only Blue Lives Mater fan.

          • Brigadon

Dude, you keep smacking things with that beam in your eye.

Frankly, what it comes down to, Is that I do not CARE if some angry monkey gets shot down by the cops. If the police break into a white man’s house, shoot his dog, and tase him, I DO care… Those cops should be jailed. But some Thug?

Well, Let’s see… Hmm… Oh wait, Nope, still don’t care about Jon Crawford the Thugged getting shot down. He was, in fact, waving a gun around, and just because it was a pellet gun doesn’t excuse his crime.

Andrew lee scott, I DO care about. YOU are the one trying to make this binary. Some oversight is needed. Andrew lee scott was indeed a tragedy, but what it was NOT was a pattern or even a statistic, it was NEWS.

At any rate, your special snowflake ranting, straw men and proof by excerpt grow tiresome. Goodbye, felon.

          • bacchys

Crawford wasn’t waving a gun around. Your white sheet is showing. Good by to you, too, America-hater.

          • Brigadon

I am fatigued at the antics of Obsolete Farm equipment. They simply do not matter. Lucky for you I love America.

          • bacchys

You do seem like someone with a fondness for sheep, but your other posts put the lie to your claims of loving America.

You’re just another racist pig, and fundamentally unamerican on top of that.

          • Brigadon

Waaah… your insults wound me to the quick.
Hehe… actually, no they don’t. I really have NO fear of being called ‘unamerican’ by a transsexual pedophile illegal immigrant.

Racist? Sure. I have never burned a cross, but at least I never nailed myself to it like your ‘alliance of perverts’ seems so fond of doing. I wasn’t racist ten years ago, but you shiitheads have made me one… something I will never forgive you for.

Enjoy the change. Being the designated victim will not protect you anymore. the alt right is inevitable.

          • bacchys

I guess we can add hypocrite and idiot to your other titles of bigot and moron.

You make a lot of assumptions- and errors- as a result of your love for farm animals and small children. Quite disgusting, actually.

          • Brigadon

            aww, you mad bro?

          • bacchys

Hardly. Whiny bigots like you don’t upset me. Repulsed would be more accurate.
A black guy steal your girlfriend?

          • Brigadon

Nope, I spent some quality time in DC, Chicongo, and Africa (Kenya, the congo, the gold coast, Haiti, Somalia, Mozambique, and Ethiopea) and got to see Monkeys in their natural habitat.
Dumbest and most self-absorbed semisentient beasts on the planet.
You should try checking out your motherland. I am betting you would be repulsed and stop wearing those ‘authentic African robes’. Hell, you might start acting more like Whitey.

          • bacchys

Yep, a black guy stole your girlfriend. I’d tell you that she’s not worth it: that you’ll find someone better, but I’m not into lying just to make someone feel better.

          • Brigadon

I don’t date black girls. Too damned ugly.

          • bacchys

It’s unfortunate that blacks make you feel inadequate. You shouldn’t. They aren’t different than any other group.

          • Brigadon

Ugly makes me feel inadequate? Hmmm… I guess I am just going to have to live with it.

Oh wait, I don’t… If we shut off the welfare, your entire species starves.

          • bacchys

You do a good job showing your sheets, bigot-boy. Sad you couldn’t vote Duke for President?

Are you a neonazi, too, or do you limit yourself to just being a racist?

          • Brigadon

The Nazis failed and are a terrible example. My evil soldiers wear bright blue uniforms with clear, wraparound, bulletproof visors on high-visibility helmets.

Why do you keep assuming that calling me a bigot and racist bothers me in the slightest? You (Obviously) care about nothing more than your own race… I support that, and I am a lot less likely to string you up than I would some white dude calling to an end to whites… That gives you plenty of time to get a head start.

          • bacchys

LOL. Christ, but you’re an idiot. Typical of the bigot type, too.
            I’m probably whiter than you.

          • Brigadon

Yes, you are. I was waiting for you to admit that your entire argument was simply virtue-signalling from a guy with a self esteem problem.
            Mission accomplished. Goodbye.

          • bacchys

            Sure you were, twink.

I”m not the one angry at blacks because my girlfriend left me for one. That would be you, cuck.

          • Brigadon

Then why are you angry at whites? Because you crave a black boyfriend?

          • bacchys

I’m not angry at whites. That’s just your confused bigotry. Not hating blacks does not equal hating whites.

          • Brigadon

Little hint- If you ever make a remark that involves saying BLM dindus EVER have a point, about ANYTHING, you should seriously rethink it… They are a concentration of some of the dumbest people on earth, and with luck will get run down en masse the next time they try to stop traffic.

On second thought, join them. You will probably feel right at home leading them in a rain dance to the Hutu god of HIV in the middle of the freeway.

  • Brigadon

Alexis Miller most likely is a Felon.
